Northern Ireland miss out on finals

Northern Ireland have missed out on a place in the finals of Euro 2008 after their 1-0 defeat in Spain?

What do you think of their performance tonight and in the competition overall?

Does it give you hope for the World Cup qualifying competition - the draw for which will be made this Sunday?

huge well done to northern ireland!
so sorry that our catalan icon xavi was the man to break your hearts!! but you should be proud of your team. the superb healy and the lads showed awesome spirit and played their heart out and managed to perform above their potenitial. unfortunately, just like scotland your brilliant campaign was derailed by the away defeats to the weaker teams in your respective groups. it's just so frustrating that you beat spain, sweden an denmark at home and beat denmark and drew with sweden away only to lose to iceland or latvia! arrrggghh!
but both scotland and NI should keep improving and carry the positive momentum through to the next capmains. you can do it!! good luck and keep it up!

i would just like to say that when northern ireland were singing thier national anthem on the subtitles it said "irish national anthem- the soilder song". the soilder song is not our anthem!!! GOD SAVE THE QUEEN IS!! we should not be looked on as ireland all the time! we are a seperate country!

You have had a great campaign guys, and should go into the world cup draw ike us scots in great form. Like us scots the campaign ends with some ifs and buts, but if truth be told we would have accepted where we ended up before a ball was kicked. Well done guys!

Scotland and Northern Ireland can both be really proud of themselves. A few slip-ups against weaker sides were costly, but the level of determination and commitment was impressive. Couldn't be much more different from England... Hopefully one of them will qualify alongside England in 2010.

I have gotten really excited about our team in this last campaign. We have got third in our group- which no one would have thought possible. people are talking about the team and football more. It has been sell out crowds at windsor park. Sectarianism in the stands has been given the heave ho. The younger teams appear to be more inspired in their play. Kids at schools are looking up the players in the team and hopefully getting more interested in the sport. Its worked wonders for the sport as a whole here.

onwards and upwards!!! bring on the world cup.

I think that it is fantastic that owc is finally getting behind the lads. Not too many years ago when you had your top on or spoke about going to matches you were laughed at or nearly treated like a lepar.
For going into a group as 6th seeds and finishing 3rd, we can all be so proud.I hope that Worthy stays on and leads us all the way. The momentum was taken out of the campaign when Lawrie left but after a rocky start Nigel got them back on song. Hopefully more and more people will get behind the lads and we have a good WC Qualifying, but lets not be over expectant...just think of the first match of this campaign when the expectations were huge!!! Lets just do what the fans do best and make as much noise and make Windsor an intimidatting place for people to come and let the lads get on with what they do best, wearing the underdog label and suprising a lot of people.
The media should stop being so negative about England and take on a good story, like Sir David holding the scoring record...oh yeah I forgot, nobody cares about us, but we dont care!!!!!!

I believe NI went as far as ye can possibly go. Great team spirit but ye need at least another 4 or 5 quality players to qualify for the next world cup.

Silly you winkeye What a great campaign we had! Unfortunate not to qualify but fair play to Spain they outplayed us last night! even the fact we can think ourselves unfortunate not to qualify is wonderful-we went into the campaign 100+somethingth in the world!

What does everyone think about home nations tournament? i think its a great idea and it would probably help us going into WC qualifiers!

Onwards and Upwards!
