For those of you already thinking about Cheltenham three very interesting horses have run over the last two days.

Hobbs Hill 2.5/3mile chaser

Was really lucky to see the above yesterday trained by Charlie Egerton in a novice chase.Fine looking individual jumped fantistically well from the front the whole way round and won with any amount in hand despite the fall of good hurdler Verasi at the last when well beaten.
Looks a real good horse

Woodbine Willie 2mile Novice hurdle

Was a good bumper horse placed in the champion Irish bumpers.
Ran out for AP McCoy first time over hurdles but put that behind him with the greatest ease at Fairyhouse today.
Beat a fair sort on the bridle without being asked any questions and looks on course for the novice hurdle in March.

Marodima 2mile chase

Expensive purchase at Doncaster Sales where I was an underbidder but I got out at 60K way off the price David Johnson paid!
Has been beaten at short odds for Ruby Walsh and Timmy Murphy but they couldnt get the horse to settle.
It just one the Novice at Warwick and Sam Thomas gave it a really attacking ride from the front and it won eased up 20 lengths. This race has produced several Arkle winners over recent years and the horse reminds me a lot of Newmill and Star de Mohasion in its front running style

Hi Arnold
Would be harsh on AP jumped the fence then three 3 strides later cocked its jaw and went violently right he stood no chance.
Nice thats its a bit quirky normally the sign of a good horse.
It won so easily today jockey did not move at any time

Could be a blessing in disguise though as I'm off to the Doncaster Sales in December to try and buy a horse called Logans Run who has some very decent Irish form

Don't wish to blow my own trumpet, but what the **** no one else will - if you'd care to check back I've been spotlighting Marodima ever since he was sold out of Ollie Sherwood's yard by Owners who really didn't want to let him go but couldn't compete with the £140k plus paid by Mr Johnson and associates.
Never mind - a lovely horse better suited by a flatter galloping track IMO - don't think Cheltenham was the ideal place to debut him - tends to run a little free, but definitely room for bags of improvement.

Now off to the Detroit City fan-club room for a lie down.

Yes Martin was a Million in Mind horse so had to be sold as per the terms of the partnership.
Is definitely improving as is gaining valuable experience for the festival
