Englands Strikers for Wednesday v Croatia

Euro 2008 England

How will play up front for England on Wednesday against Croatia I think that due to the injury (once again) to Michael Owen and the somewhat surprising 'injury' to Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott should be called into the team and play him and Peter Crouch up front. What does everyone else think?

Michael owen was one of my favourite players (I am not LFC fan). I feel sorry for the guy, he went abroad and was a flop due to not starting, picked up some injuries and looks nothing like the guy who played at LFC.

Having said all that it has been clear to the world and his mum that michael owen should not be in the england squad until he is fully fit and has had a run of games at NUFC. Having done this and proving that he is still up for it then and ONLY then should he be cosidered for england.

As for Mclown blame him as much as you want but he took a job that most people would eat their arm for. It is the idiots who employed him, and those who want to keep him that should feel the fury of the fans.

Owen is far more important to this England team than Rooney. Why are we risking him? He hasn't been a flop wherever he's been. When he's played he's scored.

The people in charge of England who select the coach are a sad joke. First fire them then fire the coach (manager) and get a real one.
When last did England have a coach who wasnt a simpleton?

A fantastic result for both israel and especially england. Now only a draw needed england are sure to qualify this wednesday. Though i still feel that McLaren needs to go after we get through. We need a Morinhou or Oneill to bring back passion and stability to the england team. A rethink needs to be done in the team and we now need to prepare well for next years competition. The likes of Agbonlahor and Young need to be moulded into the team to make us a better force next year. Also the likes of Milner and Taylor need to be considered to add youth and life to the england team. But thank god for Israel as they have got us out of jail tonight.

"Owen is far more important to this England team than Rooney."

What are you basing this on?

Goals scored this season? Goals scored in the last three seasons? Technical ability? Form? Fitness level?

Owen is not fully fit (and now injured obviously) and hasn't been for a long time. Rooney is younger, fitter and stronger with a greater thirst for getting forward and being a provider as well as a scorer.

I like Michael Owen. But he is not the player we all want him to be.

If your a Newcastle fan (even the manager) there must be a huge frustration factor at Owen and his contant injury complaints. His career seems in limbo because of it and he appears past his best (it seems) with his age now against him. I say that because his game is based on pace and the amount of injuries speak for themselves. He always seems to be fit for England games but not for club. This is a reversal of fortune for him. However, he does relish putting on the English jersey and he does bag them when he plays. Up front England have bags of talent in the domestic game. I'm not sure you can call it a crisis. Come the hour cometh the man? Someone needs to step up to the plate and show what they can do? The question is who?!

What about calling up Agbonlahor... Guy looks quality, both for Villa and U21s. Definitely the future for England. Walcott's not scoring yet (though that WILL come), and Defoe is a waste of a shirt (how many channces does he deserver) Therefore I propose Crouch and Agbonlahor!

i hear wat ur saying about walcott but even though he doesnt score that many goals, he is a great link up player for arsenal and that could work well for england
