Worst tackle in years .....

I know this has probably been discussed over and over the past few days, but I've been in Barcelona and am just back.

The tackle by Binya on Brown has to be one of the worst tackles I've seen in years. The way he attacked Brown was nothing short of a disgrace but it was the look of almost madness on Binya's face when he made the "tackle" that really made this worse. This was clearly no accident. A bad timed tackle happens in football and is always unfortunate but intending to seriously injure a fellow player is totally scandalous. It brought back bad memories of Simpson's tackle on Durrant and could easily have cost Brown his career like it did Durrant's.

Here's hoping both UEFA and Benfica hammer Binya for this. Hopefully he comes out with some sort of formal apology to Brown, it's the least the clown can do.

he has publicly apologised but in the end if he had snapped browns leg what good would saying sorry be? It was a terrible challenge and he will be soundly hammered for it by eufa.

he spent most of the game commiting fouls and saying who me to the ref ( who imo was one of the better ones ). he just lost the plot near the end, he'll probably get banned for 2 games reduced to 1 on appeal if uefa are true to form.

You're right, from what I saw, Binya was running about like a headless chicken for his entire game and finally just snapped - unfortunately it was Brown that paid the price of the "red mist".

I seriously hope UEFA make an example of this situation and ban him for a minimum 5 games - that sends out the right message to the psycho's ........

He should be banned for the season. The intent was to cause serious injury to another player. The guy's an animal. grr Other players have been banned for longer for far less crimes.

Like Caldwell who got a severe yellow card for snapping David Fernandez cruciate ligament - although on these boards most Celtic fans felt it was unintentional erm

lets not make too much out of it, he's a young lad and made a horrible mistake and he will be punished. brown was indeed lucky to get up from it, he will get a three match ban for violent conduct
