Joe C for Sports Personality of the Year

Super middle
comment on the article

How is it that some sports and individuals seem to get all the press and therefore all the plaudits.

Jonny Wilkinson had one good tournament - SP of the year should have gone to Martin Johnson

The England cricket team win one ashes in 20 something years and Flintoff gets SP of the year.

And all the money this year is going on a young lad who's won nothing yet (bottled it at the final races)

Joe has to get it this year! 10 years at the top.

The votes are by the public, unfortunately boxing just isn't in the public eye enough. If all of the boxing fans actually vote, he stands a chance, otherwise its going to go to one of the more popular sports.

Joe cannot win it over his naturally gifted pugilistic stablemate.
Enzo Macaranelli all the way. I mean how can he not deserve it after the top quality entertainment he has given us in and out of the ring in the past 12 months?
Quality fights and engaging interviews, wall-to-wall.
I hear that a massive lobbying exercise is underway by TNT Plc, who sponsors Macaranelli to use the words 'dynamite' (as in, what he claims to have '...in both hands') and 'explode' (as in, what he is set to do before every fight against top quality opponent after top quality opponent). Apparently, if he says each of these words more than 1000 times a month he gets 10 000 bonus, each month. I hear that so far this year his bonus stands 3 trillion.
If that does not deserve a sh*t trophy from the beeb I don't know what does. After all, it will be a step up from the regal horse that won last year.
I can't wait till he wins whereupon I expect he will actually explode, showering pink mist across a studio full of lesser sportspeople than himself.

What about Hatton if he wins against floyd? He would probably deserve it more, big ask i know, but he's totally being ruled out.

This fight will never happen. Boxing aside Calzaghe is 35, an undefeated champion, a four title-belt holder and a defending champion for 20 years. The next 12 months that he will plan out is for his retirement from this sport and to set him up for the rest of his life. The money is not there for him vs Froch, however much they think it is. Calzaghe's best step is to gather US money and solidify his reputation across the pond. Admittedly Hopkins may not be the best fighter for this as he's now in his 40's but Calzaghe will get more money from Hopkins and HBO than Froch in the UK. If I'm looking at a 12 month deadline before I retire - it's the money I'm looking at to live the rest of my life, Froch was too slow at climbing the ladder to face Calzaghe.

I agree with AntonUK, if Hatton beats Floyd, the best pound for pound fighter in the world today, that would be a fantastic achievement. And Hatton will have beaten Floyd in his own back yard.

Froch should stop trying to bull up a fight with Calzaghe that would be meaningless, well for Joe at least. Froch knows he is the one with everything to gain from a fight like this but Joe wouldnt cement any legacy with this fight in fact he wouldnt gain anything but his pay, nothing to get excited about. Calzaghe knows this and isnt running from Froch....just ignoring the annoying little gnat. I hope Froch develops into something speacial but not through cheap comments trying to make out hes something that he hasnt even deserved to be yet.
