The 2007 MotoGP season

Moto GP

comment on the article

The 2007 MotoGP season finished today in Valencia with the last remaining issue - who would finish second to Casey Stoner in the championship standings - being decided.

Valentino Rossi decided to race despite the broken bones in his hand but it failed to pay off for him as an engine failure meant he failed to finish the race.

That meant that race winner Dani Pedrosa pipped him to second by a single point.

What have been your highlights of the season and what are your hopes for 2008?

I may be fan_since_1988 where F1 and football are concerned, but 2007 was my 1st season of Moto GP action.
The first race in Qatar enhanced my interest that originated last year following the Pedrosa/Hayden crash.
I don't understand why Rossi may be running next year with Bridgestones whilst everybody else would be on Michelins, but at this early stage its' just the close racing action that gets me tuning in. Its fair to say that I'm hooked and have no intention of missing any future Moto GP action. Is the World Superbike series as high level and exciting a category as this? I particularly enjoy listening to the BBC TV comments of the girl with the long hair - I think their name is Charlie or something like that...

My highlight was seeing that sour faced Pedrosa crack a smile for the first time yesterday, it must have hurt.

John Hopkins was a revelation this year, how the heck does he manage to lean so low? Im sure if he tried he could scratch his helmet smiley

Great season, being a Ducati Fan Im ecstatic for Stoner and Ducati, to achieve so much in such a short space of time. And the scary thing is, every year they improve. So as far as Pedrosa being the favourite for 2008, I doubt it. A front runner, absolutely, alongside Rossi, Stoner, Melandri, and to some extent Lorenzo and Nicky. Your team mate has alot to do with the outcome when things are tight up top, this is where Melandri will be useful, if he is not injured.

Toseland made me laugh when he told Suzie "After Troy`s Maiden win at Valencia 2006, because he can beat Troy in WSB, he is confident he can win in Motogp".

Hahaha Joker.

Welcome fan_since_1988! I can understand why Rossi doesn't want michelins on his bike because neither do I. They would be my last choice. By the way, the long haired commentator? We call her the Bad Luck Girl. Do not speak to her before a race. You will crash.

So you have no licence then? Better get one soon sony or you will be getting a call from the detector van....You see we all need a licence for what we watch, but some prefer to pay more into Rupert Murdoch's pockets....LIKE YOU

Highlights in an interesting season were many for me, but not always about the best or the winningest.

Guintoli nearly getting a Dunlop podium at Motegi

A revival of some sorts at Team Green. Great to see a smaller factory do well.

Seeing not one but two Suzukis at the head of the pack.

Seeing a young rider with a rep for crashing completely dominate races, practise, warm-ups, qualifying to the point it became monotonous for many spectators

Seeing a smaller budget team win the championship for the first time.

I totally agree with Kazza8, the attitude of the BBC commentators toward Rossi is unbelievable especially when compared to what amounts to their hero worship of Malandri when he's injured....get a grip guys, Rossi is a superb rider, he's had a bad season admittedly but i'd love to see any of you ride with three broken fingers!!

And as far as sportsmaninteractive's comment, DOES IT MATTER!! Why even bring it up?

Whats this? Schumacher riding a Ducati....??

REUTERS 06/11/07
Schumacher was also in Spain on Monday to ride Australian Casey Stoner's title-winning Ducati after the end of the MotoGP season.

The German, who also tried out a Ducati MotoGP bike at Mugello in Italy two years ago, showed he could also be quick on two wheels as he completed 58 laps.

"I didn't come here to set a good time," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I had already ridden a Ducati. The first time I was slower, now I am around 10 seconds off the professionals and that's not bad."

re the commentators not making much out of Rossi riding with broken fingers compared to Melandris' efforts with a broken ankle. I guess it's because Melandri got on the podium and Rossi rode at the back for a few laps and then retired (due to engine failure)....not really comparable even to a Rossi fan

I bet Rossi is PISSED right now! 1 to 3rd in 2 seasons! That may not seem much, but in Rossi termes, that is huge
