Absolutely FURIOUS

Premier League Newcastle United

What a disgraceful performance. Fair play first goal cracker but then we just shoot ourselves in the foot with dreadful defending. Goals 2 and 3 were a joke. What really annoyed was that we never go going and the players all seemed to be on a different wavelength. The worst thing was that at 3-0 you might have thought that some of our players would have taken the leadership role and played with some belief and tried really hard but all i saw was a lack of effort and misplaced and por passes (2nd goal). I mean everyones sayin g portsmouth were excellent but they really werent. They were 3-0 up after 12 minutes and just started knocking the ball around without much intent as you might expect from an away team at st james. Then as a fan you want to see determination, playes following other players willingness and it just didnt happen. Some players were to be fair though alright. Nzogbia gave us some impetus and milner was alright as was barton passing the ball about. On the otherhand Owen was once again dreadful, smith was anonymous, taylor lacked quality but had some decent moments, cacapa never started. As a whole the team wee just hoofing balls up the field and not picking up a second ball. That is why it was nice to see Emre come on. He passed well, ran forward dictated play and showed effort in chasing down balls out of play and everything and same with martins, he showed plenty of effort when he came on. At the same time the other players on the pitch had given up, werent at all interested and if like me you remember the comeback against troyes, the shearer hatrick against leicester and other games such as aainst leeds you will know that we were good at coming back. It didnt matter how many times they scored we would still run up the pitch with purpose and try ourselves no matter what. This is why this performance is so aggravating. Last but not least i would happily see owen go to man city, so slow it is unbelievable and looks totally disinterested...the only thing he has is finishing inside the box. He doesnt have the power to finish from outside as he tries. Oba and viduka should be first choice anyday. Put smith in the reserves till he gets some form.

According to the BBC report, there were in fact 3 naff defenders playing: twice Claudio Capaca was to blame, but his close mate and fellow Brazilian Claudio Cacaba was responsible for some bad errors too. Then of course there wa Claudio Cacapa, who is from Brazil of course, who was "easily shoulder-barged" (Whatever happened to "shoulder-charged BTW?) by Benjani. So what were the other 15 defenders doing? doh

Except, Global Citizen, Sam didn't put out teams at Bolton like the one he turned out yesterday - or, worse, the one he played at Reading! Butt and Smith should never play. If you want a skillful defensive midfielder, Geremi is definitely the one - where was he yesterday? Emre should be a fixture, the only guy with vision and a pass that isn't 5 yards sideways, and looks like he really WANTS to play for the shirt. Milner and Zoggy should be played wide to run off Emre's passing. And what has Rozenhal ever done but play well? Why's he benched? He and Taylor together gave us the soundest central defence we've had for seasons. Why Faye and Cacapa? It's all very well giantgremlinboy saying Big Sam will turn things round but I can't see it if he keeps putting out imbalanced teams like the last two. I can't understand it. There were no passengers at Bolton, but there's been four or five in the last two games. I fear for next week because it's looking like those red and white striped-arse bar stewards could pick up all 3.

I agree, a long ball to Owen is a bad idea, he's more useful with a short, sharp passer like Heskey. In January, either Owen must go to Wigan or Heskey must go to Toon, the latter being more probable. I've seen from Owen's performances his dribbling and dribble speed is sub-par, he's a fox in the box and must be utilized!

I think Allardyce was a good choice of manager, he knows what he's doing unlike Roeder or Souness did. When we play Portsmouth at home we should win comfortably, but that's not going to happen with such poor defending like that, we conceded 3 very poor goals, the only defender who played well was Enrique. If we pick ourselves up from this defeat and be more consistant, we can start a good run, and kick start our season properly by hammering Sunderland.

Big Sam knows what he is doing... putting out rubbish, boring , stifling teams. Bad luck Newcastle - what an awful appointment. Its even worse than I thought it would be! Butt has just been given a new contract hasn't he? Ha ha ha

METEORIK>>...who fu**king cares about the spelling check..All i know is that it's a well writen article my dear. Give the guy a credit. I myself makes mistakes when it comes to spelling simetimes. so, shovvv it....HOwever, i mentioned about BiG sam's style of coaching earlier this season, and some people told me to shot the fu**k up.I don't know why he keep benching OBa, he is killing the young boy's convidence. I don't even have to mention about Emre, he deserve to be in first team choice. what an awful game it was last saturday, it could have been worst than that but we thank GOd that Emre and Oba, etc...came in and showed some efforts. I hope that Big Sam will do much better next.
