Alonso's driver merry go round

Hi guys whilst driving home from work I was listening to BBC London hosted by David Croft who proposed this scenario for next season after Alonso has been set free by Mclaren

Alonso to Red Bull for one year - Renault engine, Newey and Willis in the technical team to design the car

Dieter has the money to pay his wages and he'll be happy to show what he's worth for one year and then disappear to Ferrari in 2009

Coulthard will stay at Red Bull due to his book slagging off Mclaren,

Alonso replaces fellow Flavio driver Webber who in turn goes to Renault to partner Fisi or Nelsinho

Then Heikki goes to Mclaren following comments made by Heikki if he leaves Renault he will only join a team that gives him an equal opportunity to compete at the front !! ( Hint hint)

Other Prospective candidates for the 2nd seat

Rosberg - Frank will want a ransom for Nico to part company

Button - tied to Honda for another year !!very slim unless Bernie interferes

Heidfeld - overlooked for Kimi when he was younger so I don't think he wants to go to Mclaren and against Lewis
Kubica - contracted to BMW
Massa and Kimi - contracted to Ferrari
Webber - overrated good enough to be best of the rest but not in the top tier of drivers

Rubens or Ralf - you got to be kidding !!
Sutil - tied to Spyker and known to be a crasher
Fisi - sorry but past his best

latest odds makes Heikki 3-1 fav to be Lewis' teammate

Flavio has been talking about a deal being done this week; but there is doubt that anything will happen.

It is beginning to look increasingly likely that Alonso may be running out of options. The link below gives some clue to the situation.

It wuold seem that the man has comprehensively blotted his copybook by his behaviour this season.

Instead of changing teams, he should perhaps change advisors.

Alonso success in 05 and 06, has more to do with chance: F new car reliabilty was questionable, and no other challenger in sight.

This won't be the case in 2008. Suppose Alonso at R, he won't make it again. He will face tough competition from F, MM and BMW.

According to french sports paper "L'Equipe", Briatore and boss Ghosn fixed an ultimatum to Alonso expiring this thursday 22, while the latter prefers to join Red Bull ...

But, is RB interested ?

Alonso has burned nearly all his bridges with his prima donna attitude. Any one that takes him on will not be able to trust him; one minte he's advertisng the th Renault Megane "the safest car on the road" , the next it's a Merc..."it's incredible..." everytime he jumps ship he makes mockery of his sponsors and F1 is all about sponsorship. How is going to plug Renaults again, or even a BMW for that matter? His patronage and opinion has little value anymore. Banco Santander must be well fed up with him. I think he's blown it... Minardi would have him back though.

"But, is RB interested ?"

According to reports... no. They have considered it, but interestingly, apparently don't think the time is "right", and won't dump either DC, or MW for Alonso.

But this is F1. Things can, and do happen unexpectedly.

After all, as I said earlier, who'd have thought a recent 2-WDC would still be looking for a new season's seat - or even being given an ultimatum?!

Strange days...

Oh come on. Even you can't believe that. Or we have a serious case of denial here, doc.

How about de la Rosa for the 2nd seat? He's got the knowledge and the experience and that would be the perfect prize for his good work at McLaren, now that he is in his last years in F1.

If McLaren would have given him a seat in 2007 as Alonso's teammate, they had won both championships.

Hamilton should have spent his 1st year learning in another team, to shift to McLaren in 2008.

"Hamilton should have spent his 1st year learning in another team, to shift to McLaren in 2008."

What's the potnt of postponing the inevitable by a year? Hamilzon would still have beaten Alonso.

McLaren did not lose because of Hamilton and Alonso. They lost because they were caught receiving. They would still have lost whoever the drivers were, if they 's shot themselves in the same way.

2 britons or 2 germans at the same team. What's the problem ??

This sport is capital incentive. It's important that a driver brings sponsors with him regardless of his nationality.

So 2 britons at MM, why not providing they bring sponsors.
