In the interest of fairness Harrington deserves to win, it
having won a Major this year
I like woods but an Order of merit for someone that has won nothing of notice in a calender year besides good place standings in majors don't mean nothing

Thrilling finish...just saw Mcdowells albatros. Rose is struggling, but this is what its all about...how you come back fighting...lets wait and see. as for Harrington deserving order of merit having won a major...does that mean Monty never deserved one ?

Aggghhhhhh!! Backed McDowell e/w at 50s at start of tournament. After his 2 at the 17th, I thought, someone up there wants you to win this, and then he double bogeys 18!! A par could have given him a play-off chance depending on how Dyson and Rose finish. Ah well, at least I get the place...............

Fair play to rose on his victory but he really does make it difficult on himself. I just wish harrington had been playing in the final group with him, I am certain he would have taken rose if he was playing with him. I would really questino if rose would have the bottle to win a major, he really got away with this one at the end.

I actually really like rose but he does seem quite suspect under pressure when in contention. Congrats though on the victory! There is still no doubt on my mind that harrington is the top European golfer though, consistently up there every week even in the majors and has won nearly 20 titles now including a major. Another one on the way next year. Would like to see rose get one too.

Having Harrington in the last group would have resulted in neither winning the tournament as both would have focused too much on the Order of Merit. Despite the wobble Rose won this well I thought. He dug deep, played the last 3 holes well and looked strongest in the play-off. He now contends week in week out which brings constant pressure, not justing seaking big cheques with solid last rounds like Poulter and with no finish lower than 21st in his 12 European Tour events,a major record second only to Tiger this year and now a big win on a really tough course he is now really ready to step up to the next level and will probably go ahead of Harrington and Garcia as top European on '09.

Excellent performance by Rose and a great result for European golf.

Even at this early stage it means that Rose and Harrington have probably got enough points in the bank to get their automatic places in next year's Ryder Cup team.

I think Rose came of age this weekend and now should be a a real contender for a major in 2008.

Great finish to the season and fair play to Rose for keeping his nerve.

Credit also to Harrrington for putting up a spirited defence of his title.

Both Harrington and Rose have set a standard that the other European players need to match, especially in advance of next year's Ryder Cup.
