SCOTLAND FANS BE PROUD

Scottish Premier Scotland
comment on the article

On November 17th we played Italy needing a win to qualify for Euro2008. We gave it a hell of a go but fell to a 2-1 defeat to the World Champions.
I was at the game on Saturday and at the end i felt heartbroken but immensely proud of what the team had achieved. We didn't deserve to be beaten on the day but we were and that's football. I don't think the referee should be given games with such importance as its clear that he cant handle them. He and his assistants made some awful errors for and against Scotland.
But lads its another hard luck story for us and we've got to look to the future.
Looking forward to the World Cup draw.

We will live to fight another day

I know what you mean, so many expectations can't be good can it?

I think Scotland were robbed, that free kick that was given to the Italians (for reasons unknown) was pathetic. Although I think your goal was offside?

It would be really hard to take for me if our teams were in the opposite positions ok

"I do disagree with you that England would've been automatically beaten by the teams in your group. We always match up to whatever team we play, but of course your group was harder."

On the form we showed, we'd have sailed through England's group. France and Italy are undoubtedly two of the best in the world, and Ukraine are the best of the former Russian states.

How can you be so sure Malky? Football is unpredictable mate, Scotland obviously love playing as the underdogs, how can you be so sure you'd have breezed past Russia in Moscow, and Tel aviv, and Zagreb? They have hostile environments as well.

Argentina are an incredible team, but we've beaten them before. We've beaten Germany before, and Spain. All I'm saying is football nearly always turns up and suprises people so really what you're saying is irrelevant.

Tony's right chaps. No point trying to compare the feats of Scotland and England. They are in different groups FFS. I am not going to become all bitter after our exit v Italy. We have truly overachieved on anyone's expectations in this campaign and have easier draws to look forward to as a result.

Im very proud of what Scotland have achieved. Ok we're not going to Euro 2008 but we have went from 88th to 13th in a three year period and have claimed the scalps of France and Ukraine along the way. IMO we outplayed Italy and deserved to win but Faddys miss killed us but am not going to knock him or any player because they've done so well. With some good youngsters coming through the future is bright for Scotland.

We may not have any world class players, we may not be a big country but we have massive heart, passion and team spirit that is hard to beat.

Roll on the World Cup draw smiley

Tony

Quick question:

Since when do Russia play in Zagreb and Tel Aviv?

I agree with Tony the pony. Scotland seem to play better against the bigger teams. We did well to take 6 points against Lithuania in this campaign but did lose away in Georgia so who's to say we would win in Moscow, Tel Aviv, Zagreb? Long flights, different environments, a history of away defeats.

I don't think there's any doubt that Scotland are better than Israel, for example, but we would do well to win in Tel Aviv.

Congrats to the boys though, what a campaign. Bring on the WC draw.

Scotland and England both had bad results against teams that aren't even in Europe, Isreal and Georgia.

Excuses that cant affect our plight. I see your point. But thats not gonna wash with FIFA/UEFA, and it is kinda clutching at straws....
