.. what do you make of him? He was a bit poor when we had him at Saints.

I dont think he will have a major role to play but if he gets Wisey his cup of tea every day then Denis will have a bit more time. I just wish we had somebody with Wiseys enthusiasm at Bolton. Again though I am a realist-Leeds are a big club (or should be) and we are surrounded by too many. I can see us at Elland Road next year. I just hope that Leeds go straight through to the Prem-the supporters deserve it and Leeds should be there. Wigan and my lot don't deserve it-the supporters are a disgrace. 12,000 for a Prem game. Sheeez.

your best signing in years, will do a great job for you...has he ever been that far up the A1/M1. I bet he hasnt been to carlisle before.
genuinely he is a great manager with good success and knows everybody in football. I met him at a game years ago and my cousin was a YTS at the time. A few years later my cousin was doing alright. I met bassett again and he new my name and how the cousin was getting on!

Bertie Bassett turning up again somewhere else! Leeds are getting what they deserve. He might have been a one club man as a player, but as a manager, coach, assistant, director of football, consultant, he's turned up all over the country! Reasons? He's not much good at the job. He's not got loyalty. He might only stick it for three days! laugh

There are better guys out there. Can't see him wanting to play second fiddle for long though. Be good for the Bates/ Wise school of cards on the coaches though no doubt.
Actually i do think it shows a distinct lack of ambition for the club.
Would of been better as someone has already said, bringing in the likes of Gary Speed, younger, new ideas and of an age where he would relate to the players better. Not only that i think Basset lost a lot of respect at Saints which makes me at least not fancy him.
Still results will tell.

I wanted Radebe, just been playing Footy Manager 07 and apparently hes Youth Coach at Orlando Pirates, a South Afircan team, I think Bassett will do fine with Wise.

Bassett is an "has been and never was" and has no place in the modern game. I hope that they gety rid of him at the end of the season after they have been promoted and get a younger "hungry" Assistant Manager in who is in touch with todays game which has evolved and can work with Denis. I think Poyet was great and will succeed - he has a presence and is intelligent and knows the modern game.
