Much needed success

As a Man Utd fan it hurts to say that Arsenal are a great team and play some great football at times, however I do think United match them at playing 'Total Football' but United are successful as well.

Can arsenal win a trophy this season or will they flop again and use the excuse that they are young and have potential and that it will be 'Next Year' (again)!?

If this Arsenal team don't win trophies can they really be considered as great because flowing football doesn't guarentee trophies!?

There is only ONE player that would even get a game for united that is in the arsenal line up, an that's fabby... NOONE else would even make uniteds bench!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh come on, on current form most of our squad would walk into any clubs squad - and most likely their first team (if there was space for them!).

Here’s a pick of a few players (apart from Fab) I think fall into that category.

Toure and Gallas – at the very least, the VERY LEAST, a match for Rio & Vidic. For me Toure has been one of the best CD’s in the PL over the past few years, and on current form I’d say he’s the pick of the Premiership – as I said, on current form.

Clichy – the understudy for Ashley Who? – How good has the supposed best left back in the world been compared to Clichy? Nuff said.

Mmm......theatrics and temperament apart – who’d you honestly rather have (in purely footballing terms) – Eboue or Brown?

Hleb – have you seen how quick this guys feet are? He has improved over the past season, and takes players on for fun. In terms of dribbling technique he’s on par with Ronaldo. Most people who don’t watch Arsenal games regularly will probably disagree, but seriously, Hleb’s close control is amazing.

Robin Van Persie would be a bench warmer, eh?? If you HONESTLY think this, then you have no business contributing to any debate about footnall.

As a defensive midfielder Gilberto has been one of the most consistent (and unsung) players in the PL for years, Brazilian international pedigree – but apparently a bench warmer!

The honest fact is that given their availability and requirement at the time, AW and AF would probably pick any of the players on either side (and make a great team).

You’re either a WUM, deluded or simply know very little about football– I’ll leave you to pick.

lets be honest both teams are shit hot, im an arsenal fan, but i still think united have sum world class players- even if they do cost more(which isnt really an issue as aw has well loads of money too spend but just doesnt feel the need)
nd if ne1 thinks that players like Rosicky and hleb r shit then they know nufing about football.
either team is equally likely to win- itll proberbally just be a lucky moment that decides the game(hopefully in arsenals favoursmiley ) both squad arnt all that different from those of last year, man u still have the same defence as do arsenal, but the fact that arsenal took all 6 points last season must show we're just as capable of winning.
but its guna be a gr8 game:D

To respond to jayjay's article, as an Arsenal fan, it DOESN'T hurt me to say how well United are playing. The sign of a great manager such as SAF is, is to respond when teams come along and challenge the supremacy such as United have had in the Premier League. There were many who wrote them off when Chelsea bagged a brace of titles, but back came Man U last season to claim it back.

However, what's happening this season so far at the Emirates proves Wenger's worth as a manager. Post Henry, he's building a team likely to challenge United and the rest again. Even if they don't win something this season, it's not a disaster, as overall, it's a very young side with the potential to be even better. As for the match at the weekend, I'll have to sit on the fence and say it's a difficult one to call, and whilst Chelsea seem to be resurgent under Avram Grant, (and all credit to him for that) Arsenal v Man U represents the match up of the season thus far. Only those fans blinkered by rivalry would say that there's no one from either team that you'd like to have in your own squad, but that's all hypothetical anyway.

Looking forward to the match and hopefully it'll be a demonstration of the type of football both teams are capable of producing and have frequently produced, whilst obviously (from my point of view) hoping for an Arsenal victory.

I hope this will be a draw and Man city lose!
then we can move to third place and closer to Arsenal and Man U!
But i think Arsenal might just steal the victory near the end!

we definitely play the best and define real football gunners. can barcelona or man play they way they do with a team without all first team players ooh or an average age of 20.1. the ans is a big fat no. we'll still define football trophies or not

Relax gunners. I understand your playing great football and you have one of the best managers around, but remember experience is important and it's a bit early to predict for trophies. I think Man U is a much better team under pressure and has much more control over their games. Good football on both sides and well done to the managers
