Sevilla the Jokers

Are Sevilla having a laugh ? I know they’re naffed off about Ramos moving to Spurs but this is ridiculous :

"Tottenham will have to cough up £60m if they want to sign Seville pair Daniel Alves and Freddie Kanoute."

This is a quote from both the Daily Star and The Times, and is on the Beeb’s gossip page today, paper talk I know but it’s still interesting.

Freddie’s goal return for Sevilla is 27 in 64 appearances (wikipedia), better than his return for us admittedly over a similar period of time, but I would say he’s worth no more than £10m in today’s market. Are Sevilla seriously suggesting then that Alves is worth £50m ? Or is this just their way of trying to hold us to ransom ?

And do we really want Kanoute back anyway ? Your thoughts on this would be welcome.

And this made me chuckle (from The Sun) :

"Former Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale has revealed that Jonathan Woodgate provided him with one of his biggest laughs at Elland Road. Apparently, the defender once left his passport at home on a European trip because Ridsdale told him to keep it somewhere 'safe'."

What a muppet.

Del Nido's comments referred to 'treachery' between clubs and honour in football.
While I completely understand his disappointment in losing Ramos he is very naive if he believes this doesn't exist in football. Real Madrid & Barcelona are constantly poaching playes so it quite clearly does go on in Spain.

He should have given Alves his dream move for the sake of his career. I personally think Alves is slightly overrated and Seville would have received £23 million for him - a ridiculour sum for a right back! How can he hold Chelsea to ransom in such a manner and then complain about Ramos leaving for financial gain.

King has never stated he wants to leave and is injured now. Alves wanted to leave.

oh dear Spurs fans getting very deluded yet again. You will not get either Alves or Kanoute....they want CL football and will not get it at Spurs whoever the manager is. Ramos will only be there for two years anyway...I think 18 months is his average

Couldn't agree with you more Highbury faithful. All poachers should be punished.

NOBODY LEAVES A TEAM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON IN SPAIN TO ANOTHER TEAM EXCEPT HE WAS SACKED BY HIS FORMER EMPLOYEE. WHY SHOULD ALVES BE LEFT TO GO TO SPURS? ARE THEY DOING ANYTHING DIFFERENT FROM WHAT ACMILAN DID TO KAKA WHEN REAL APPROACHED HIM? KANOUTE IS WORTH ONLY 10M WHILE BENT IS WORTH WHAT? 16M? HAHAHA <laugh> <laugh>. PLEASE KANOUTE HAS PROVED HIMSELF BOTH IN EUROPE AND IN THE LA LIGA AS A GOAL MACHINE. THE PROBLEM HE HAD AT SPURS IS WITH THE FANS AND THE TACTICS BY THE COACH. TOMORROW YOU WILL SAY DEFOE FLOPPED AS A SPURS PLAYER. WAS HE REALLY GIVEN ANY CHANCE?
SPURS SHOULD APOLOGISE TO SEVILLA PERIOD.

Why should Spurs apologise? They have paid a fortune is compensation and will have to pay an inflated price for any player Ramos wants so I think an apology is a bit rich

Oh dear, what has become of the mighty spurs?
I'm a life long spurs fan, and although i feel we are under no compulsion to apologise to Seville (this sort of stuff happens the world over and is not specific to football, and besides they got a nice fat compo payment), i think Martin Jol has received a serious whack in the gonads from the spurs board. He saved the club from almost certain relegation after we dumped Santini, then went on to get two successive 5th places, and has brought in some top notch players (berbatov, bale, jenas are good examples). IMHO i think Jol's problem ultimately was the signing of Bent. We had 3 top class strikers, all have played for their country, and then they bring in another one...thats not gonna cause any problems is it!

I think first off, bent needs to go again, for his and the teams sake. Robinson needs a defence that are going to offer at least some protection, that will help his confidence, not talk of selling him! Forget Alves, i have watched him play several times, and although good, he his such a cheat - makes robben and klinnsman look like diving amatuers, and dont get me started on the imaginary card waving he does everytime someone looks at him!

And finally, as much as i hate to say it, firstly: Lampard is better than Lennon - at the moment; and second (and i REALLY hate to say this), Arsenal for at least the double, maybe more - they are looking awesome at the mo....pesky gooners!

Ready and waiting for the baccklash! <whistle>

i made one comment about the board poaching i said stick to poaching eggs & very nice with......, i cannot according to a spurs friend of mine advising that the food product i mentioned was offensive, so in hindsight i am sorry if i caused offence, i did reply to the bbc adjudicators asking why my comment had been withdrawn, sadly i have received no reply, i have however kept records of the mails i have sent & past them on to my lawyers in the uk, it is my intention to follow the legal avenues as to the reasons from the bbc & also my intention to try & sue the person who complained about my comment, indeed it is they who are predudice, what they should remember is that being British is a democracy & a right to free speech! if i had said offensive words be it breaking any rules of this service i would hold my hands up & apologise, as I HAVE NOT! THEN BEWARE COMPLAINER I AM AFTER YOU, VIA OF COURSE OUR LEGAL SYSTEM.IT IS YOU THAT IS PREDUDICE ! NOT ME.
