Avram Grant's Chelsea have put down a marker today, we mean business. Excellent performance, we played with a swagger and it was delightful to watch. We made City look like a very ordinary team. It is these kind of performances that are going to win the fans over after Mourinho's controversial departure.

Just like to add aswell, 3 assists by super Frank today... again proving what a brilliant midfielder he is. Also another 2 goals from Drogba, again showing that he is fully commited to us.

Well done Chels!

6-0 WHAT A RESULT !. I thought chelsea were good yesterday and hopefully it can kick start us for a serious premiership title attempt. But i still think sheva's poor for 31 million. If i were grant not sure i would pick him ahead of kalou or an extra attacking midfielder.COME ON CHELSKI ! smiley

As much as I am eternally grateful for Mourinho delivering so much to Chelsea in the 3 seasons that he was here, at times the football wasn't to my liking.

In the 04/05 season I had absolutely no complaints with the style of football, as we were beating teams convincingly with regularity. We were also beating teams with style that season. The 05/06 season brought a slightly more challenging title defence because of teams having more of an idea of how we play and how Mourinho wants us to play. However we still fended any real remote threats from United off, and retained the title convincingly.

As entertaining as last season was, as a Chelsea fan Mourinho's tactics were more evident of perhaps getting 2 goals and then sitting back. In a team talk that I saw of Mourinho giving to the players he said "I will not say that you must win, but you cannot lose! there is no pressure". This was evident in both champions league semi final exits to Liverpool at Anfield.

I'm so elated. We deserved a lift like this in the league. We've been playing very well since the valencia match.I only hope it continues. Also Lampard's form is cause for celebration. The guy is just doing the job as it's meant to be done.well done to the coaching crew.I Might just fall in love with Grant But JM remains the special one.biggrin
Congrats to all blues.Long may our scintilating form continue.Amenok

Fabulous result!! I scared my cat to death I was shrieking for joy so much in the kitchen!! My wife too, having banished me, was a tad worried.

Six goals is the stuff of dreams. During the game the commentary team (continued thanks to the excellent Five Live) asked whether Chelsea had been watching Arsenal mid-week. I think so!

To be honest, this result is a surprise only in so much as Man City were perceived to me a more stern challenge than they proved to be. Chelsea have a team of quality players, and with the right encouragement should be able to play like this more regularly.

But lets be fair, before we forget Mourinho. He was a superb manager who developed a squad mentality and team spirit second to none. In addition, he coached players to better themselves, notably Joe Cole.

Grant and his team simply haven't had time to demonstrate whether this result is his doing.

Graham Taylor suggested that under Mourinho we would have sat back after going 2-0 up...perhaps, but there were signs at the start of the season of a return to more attacking football.

Grant's real test comes at Christmas - can we string the results together then? Can he retain the big players? Can he make some astute signings if needed? Can we still have four competitions to compete in?

For now, lets rejoice a little that the team have found some confidence, some form, and yes some swagger...Football's a fickle thing so I'm loving this week!

Atleast i am begining to feel that we are still in the chase for the EPL. after jose's departure, i have always know that if players like drogba, essien and probably malouda can put in say 80% then the sky will be limit.
