have to agree with uniysypher that kenwin jones was excellent . won everything in the air and some good touches and skill on the floor too . thought liam miller played well also . greenies save from leadbitter changed the game tho . fantastic save and it spurred us on a bit . sunderland played well tho and maybe deserved something from the game but at the same time im glad we got three points!
hope you stay up , playing like that you will anyway . good luck.

As a neutral I have heard everyone banging on about how did Sunderland lose that game...Did no-one notice West Ham completely dominating the 1st Half and prob should have been at least 2 nil up at half time!!

"However Keane himself could be the biggest problem, he is despised within the game, and has already exhausted his list of "friends", would you want to work for him? I wouldn't."

As a 17 year old footballer, I would find it an honour to be under his tuteledge...The guy has done it all in Britain and Europe and has a character I look up to as a player (Some incidents I have found distasteful but his passion and desire inparticular) and from what i've seen so far, as a manager. But thats me=)

I think it is absolutely wrong to say that Keane is despised within the game. I can imagine Mick McArthy and Alfie Inge Haaland probably will not be expending too much on Christmas cards for roy but I think you'll find elsewhere he is at worst feared and respected. Even Southgate appeared fairly congenial with the old boy and goodness knows he's been on the wrong end of his studs. I read an interview with thierry Henry last weekend, and despite the white hot rivalry those two shared, he said he had nothing but respect for the Irish mauler. For my money he has been the most influential player in the short history of the Premiership. I am willing to accept Cantona and Henry as counterarguments. Nonetheless, I absolutely refute he is loathed. I support Forest and he darked us off the first opportunity he got, and I can't find it in my heart to hate him

We lost by a lucky fingertip and a very lucky ricochet. You may make your own luck in this game, but, West Ham were very very lucky to steal 3 points.

West Ham fan here:

I was at the game yesterday and agree we were very lucky not to lose. Like johnsoneagles says, we completely dominated the first half in terms of possession (we must have had at least 70%), but were just passing it around with no sense of ambition.

Second half we just panicked as soon as Jones scored, and Sunderland should have made far more of their chances. On another day Leadbitter's shot would have gone in off the post instead of bouncing out (side point, how is Green not in the England squad when he regularly produces saves of that quality).

Keane totally outclassed Curbishley tactically and Curbs just got lucky with a panic substitution paying off. Eherington was our only persistent attacking threat, and no one semed to know why Cole didn't go off for Boa instead. Also he should have changed things at least 10 mnutes earlier. But in the end we got lucky and hopefully this will kickstart our season after some bad luck in the last 2 defeats

At one stage watching the game, I thought the score was going to be the reverse of what it was.
But I,ll take to 3 points, can we have Jones? erm

Manchester City fan in peace here. I think West Ham's first half from a attacking point of veiw was absoloutly dismal. They had 69% of the ball and lots of chances but could only manage 1 goal. Sunderland came back very strongly
in the second half and thoroughly deserved their goal and should have got a few more and it would have happened on their day. The West Ham goal was desperatly unlucky and completly left the Sunderland team in shock and disbelief. If Roy Keane is going to push for a mid-table finish with this newly formed team, he is going to have to teach them to swallow bad luck and keep playing, otherwise every time the other team gets an unlucky goal, which is going to happen quite a lot, they are going to fall apart. 3-1 was harsh on Sunderland but they have to get past the bad luck phase and play through it. I firmly believe Roy Keane will guide them to safety but maybe it will depend on the last few
games if they dont improve a lot. On Kenwyne Jones, I think Roy has uncovered a gem there. Maybe not the same standard as Elano but a gem nonetheless. If they keep him then they have a serious chance of survival. I think after 38 games the table will look like this:

1. Arsenal
2. Man Utd
3. Liverpool
4. Man City
5. Chelsea
6. Portsmouth
7. Blackburn
8. Everton
9. Newcastle
10. Aston Villa
11. Tottenham
12, Birmingham
13. Sunderland
14. West Ham
15. Reading
16. Fulham
17. Middlesbrough
18. Wigan
19. Bolton
20. Derby
