Benitez - Got out of jail...

Premier League Liverpool, Everton
comment on the article

The reaction from the players' and manager at the end spoke volumes. Tough on Everton, the ref made some poor decisions, not least the Lescott/Carra incident at the end. Liverpool surely have to improve from here on in because that was far from vintage and on another day, another ref, it could have been worse.

I am a neutral (Aberdeen fan...) and generally an admirer of Gerrard but I have to say that I think his attitude yesterday was appalling. He dived for his penalty. Look at a replay, check his right knee: if there was contact there it would have buckled. what he diod was splay his feet to make himself fall, immediately turning to check that the pen had been given, and then (England's captain remember) having a word with the ref. to (perhaps) get a yellow card made red for the defender.

Nauseating. Exactly the sort of thing to make sure I watch more rugby, less football.

I'm not a Everton fan neither a Liverpool's. But this ref was clearly biased IMO, not just simple mistakes could explain. There should be at leat a red and a pen in favour of Everton. Bad luck Everton.

Judging by this performance, and Rafa's simply odd managing decisions, Liverpool won't be winning anything this year...

You don't even know what you talking about. How can you even mention that these players are substandard these players:
Riise: One of the best LB in the world
Sissoko: Going to be one of the best DM(once he gets his passing sorted out)
Kyut: Has the best work rate in the EPL
Voronin: Best Free transfer of the season
Benayoun: just what the pool needed a proven EPL player

Your right to have your own opinion mate, but you need a big squad if you want to compete in all competitions, whether that be Sissoko or Voronin

I can remember the Liverpool sides of the 70s and 80s. That's the kind of talent you need to win leagues. No weak link and no passengers.

I'm afraid I can't say that about the Liverpool I've seen this season.

Sorry and all that.

snowJacuzzi007, minimal contact leads to fall when running at high speed, i agree, wholeheartedly, hence why Ronaldo goes down a lot. He runs twice as fast as Gerrard and gets a hell of a lot of clips on on his back heel.

So thanks for sticking up for Ronaldo and showing that he does not dive.

As a Red's fan i honestly think that Riise is one of the weak links in the side. He just isn't the defender we need. yea he has a brilliant shot and a decent cross and he has contributed tremendously down the years but he is far from the best LB in the world.

Voronin is being overrated just because he scores a few goals, many of which have been tap ins. Okay the tolouse and sunderland goals were pretty good but you can't judge him as well as people are after just 10 games.

Kuyt may have a great workrate but he has literally no impact anymore. He had a cool head for the penalties sure but how many shots does he have? how many openings does he create ? he plays far too deep and if Rafa wants more from him he needs to play him further up.

Sissoko on the other hand, i agree with you has had a rough patch but he has great potential and i have been amazed with some of his displays in the past and i will be angry if he is sold in January.

Benayoun is a good, clever player but he isn't the cutting edge winger we need. As rafa said hes like Garcia's replacement, i would have preferred the latter, i miss him and i think so does the team. He is more of a plyer behind the front two or one in a central role but in all honesty, i'd have Garcia over benayoun any and every day of the week
