It really is quite amazing that such a young driver in his rookie season can come out on top in Friday pratice at a circuit that he had never driven (for real), with such hugh expectation and pressure on his shoulders.
Yes, he does have the car to do it,however, it is still a testiment to his ability.
Whist you cannot read too much into Friday practice, it is an indication of if someone is on the pace.I for one find his achievements this year quite incredible and he looks set to have a record breaking future ahead.
Lewis Hamilton deserves all the credit he gets for this seasons performance, regardless of the result on Sunday.

If I were Honda or Super Aguri I would appeal and say where was the email!
Ron just puts his hand in his back pocket and gets out the wallet!

It happened one more time. Lewis breaks the rules and FIA doesn't make anything. So, sure that he is going to win. It's going to be the dirtiest championship ever.

he is in the best car and has performed exceptionally in every race whether he knows the track or not, 3 of his 4 wins have been on tracks he's never driven on before, but it doesn't take too long for a driver to climitise to a track, new tracks come along all the time and drivers take to them like a duck to water.

and as for todays session yes he did well, but his fastest time was set on the soft tyres, alonso's fastest time was set on the harder tyre, but the track was constantly drying througout the session and constantly getting faster and faster, alonso was faster one minute, hamilton the next, then in the end alonso was out last on the harder tyre and came close to taking p1, so i'm not sure how much we can read into it. a dry fp3 tomorrow will be the real showing of who is where, and i expect ferrari to be much much closer aswell.

I agree too. If there is an engine failure, it is also the fault of the team (designers, manufacturers), but the driver is punished.
Would have been nice to see LH fight for the title from the middle of the grid.

Why do most posters keep focussing on Lewis Hamilton, as if he was the only driver who had this problem?
erm
Here is an important paragraph in the story:

"Honda and Super Aguri received the same punishment after Jenson Button and Takuma Sato fell foul of the same rule."

SOme fans have an unhealthy fixation with LH!

Sure that there were more drivers involved, but none of them is going to with the WC because this help. If just these other two drivers would have made the cheat, they would be santioned with various positions. Last time that it happened, RS was santionated with 0,5 seconds in clasiffication

Lewis gets too much attention! Let's give some to Alonzo so that he can feel confortable within the team. The camera flashes and the lights from the TV cameras really do upset him because none of it is focused in his direction. His favorite trick of distracting the press away from Lewis with contraversy is about the only thing he has left. So let's see how he manages to turn attention to himself this weekend.

The only thing I want to know about Alonzo is where he got that 6 tenths from?

He is a soon to be an ex-2xWDC and that's it for him. He's not the quickest F1 driver, and he's not the most popular, but perhaps he is the luckiest F1 driver considering he is still driving for any team in F1 after spygate. Personally, I think he has an image problem, and anyone considering buying a Mercedes may want to think twice before doing so.

All this comments regarding Hamilton escape from punishment are quite pointless.

The infringment was pratically useless...why testing a second set of wet tyres when the weather forecast says dry and sunny for Saturday and Sunday? That's why Alonso did very few laps under wet conditions.

That "useless" term in fact might hide a more sneaking proposition.
Consider this...a good and experienced driver would know that winning on Sunday doesn't really matter...expecially when racing the last GP and leading the championship by 4 points.

A controlling and waiting game away from any possible collision with its main rivals it's all that is needed.

Yet, do you expect Hamilton to play that way? Certainly not...he's young talented and ambitious.
His team might have thought of doing that service for him. I find it very difficult to think that was a mistake.
Probably it was a deliberate attempt of getting Hamilton in the back, away from Alonso.
If that is true, Hamilton wouldn't need to know the team is playing in the background on his behalf.
