So, here we are. After 16 races, no small amount of bickering, fines and points deducted it comes down to this - three men, one title.

One of the most memorable sporting soap operas comes to its conclusion on Sunday.

Can Britain's Hamilton become the first driver to win the Formula One title in his first season?

Can team-mate, fierce rival and current champion Fernando Alonso shatter the dreams of the 22-year-old?

Or will Kimi Raikkonen gatecrash the McLaren party by winning the title for Ferrari?

What do you guys think?

Congratulations Kimi. Overall, the best driver won and ofcourse it was in a Scuderia. McLaren and their drivers have damaged Formula 1 and Hamilton, whilst a rookie must take part of the blame for his politics and actions. Hopefully, next year the drivers will stay the same and we can see a proper fight on the track and not in the courts or media.

Is anyone moderating this ? Some of these comments would be more suited to a football string.
All the top teams are multi national so let's stop the Italian cheats theme. There have always been differences between the culture of the UK based teams and Ferrari. Anyone who has ever done business with the French and Italians will tell you they can be very political and they see pushing the rules to the limits as a natural thing to do.
As for those confidently predicting Hamilton will win a championship one day, Stirling Moss, considered the outstanding talent of his day and the best driver never to have one a world championship. There's no guarantee, imagine if last year had been his first year, how would Hamilton's confidence be now?

Wow! What a comeback! Who would have thought! With everyone talking about Hamilton, it's the underdog Kimi who's performed a coup.

Feel bad for Lewis but he's had a lot of good luck this season and things even itself in sport. Kimi's had bad luck in his career having reliability problems all the time but he's never let his head drop. Today his patience and perseverance has paid off and Lady Luck has finally smiled on him. Well done Kimi!

Commiserations to Lewis and Fernando - they played their part and it was just not meant to be their time.

A great 2008 in prospect for F1 fans!

It’s just right in my mind that Kimi won WDC from outside odds, by sheer determined manoeuvring in the opening lap and consistent pace throughout coupled with A1 support from team not to mention Philippe. Nothing dirty from Kimi all season, he began in Melbourne how he intended to finish and more wins than the rest.
Kimi would do himself a favour to have presentation lessons now; he’s got no language problem.
It would have been a little too cosy for LH to have WDC this year, even though hugely popular with nouveaux-fans; nevertheless he has this year achieved previously unbelievable records and that must be satisfying itself. First ever Afro-Caribbean to break into F1, then five poles, twelve podiums, WDC lead most year and ending tied with outgoing champ and one point behind the new; that’s fantastic personal ability and on air he seems a very nice guy. I think RD was just a little audacious to believe he could pull this one off.
It may not have been so popular for FA to get WDC again, in view of the way media have now portrayed him as unsportsmanlike, though that made not a lot of difference to Schui’s popularity.

RD and McLaren were racing Alonso (1 man) and the entire team scored 109 points while FA alone scored 109.

Ron Dennis made total mess by commenting they were racing FA, instead he should have concentrating in talking and walking more Lewis to get the things going for the Last race.

Agreed FA wasn't good for McLaren, due to internal issues, but we should give credit to him for leveling single handed 109 of Lweis and McLaren's (Team).

Finally Ferarri and Kimi you are too good. Ice Cool Kimi/Ferarri will be future.

Kimi & co congrats, you people acheived what wasn't predicted by many.

Kimi, your personal commitment and attitude gave you this WDC, Weldone smiley

Personally I feel RD made a took a great gamble in messing with Lweis WDC (Shangai waiting for weather and not seeing the tyres), here what was the need for 3 pit stops sadface, which would have given him 26 Secs and finished 5th + possible Title.

Any how after a long time, a good year of F1 with politics, events and heated arguments.

The good news is that LH has gained experience. He will no more act as a rookie next year. And no more bickering with the future partner. At least I hope so. And hey, he wasn't dreaming of a place in the top 10 at the start of the season. Finishing #2 and an overnight celebrity is a fairy-tale dream comes true.

However, we have to admit (supporters & non alike) that LH brought publicity & attention to F1 never seen before which means the real winners are: F1, the fans and the organizers.

Expect an increase in ads from the sponsors next season, where every inch of space in the car & outfit of the drivers to cost real figures. Don't laugh if a driver passed by with some ads tattooed on his forehead, cheeks, nape & elsewhere.

The truth is F1 is the biggest merchandise marketing firm in the world.

good one, straight talk. Too many factors involved in this sport that are out of drivers' hands. Schumacher too, had to struggle with Ferrari in 1996 with all their reliability problems. Mclaren has been fantastic this season with reliability, imagine LH when things are not going so good. That's when we would see true character.

Let's imagine Kimi gets himself a reliable car next year that can handle his speed and just maybe he can win 18 races! All joking/bitching aside if you study the year, take Kimi's 6 win's and then add each race he was leading when his car expired, he would have walked it. What I want to see is racers racing flat out every race, 15 points for first and 10 for second, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Make it imperative to win then we'll see more overtaking, more tantrumas and more entertainment.
