Referee last night.

comment on the article

I posted here yesterday about my brother thinking that UEFA wouldn't allow us to qualify, and having watched the Faddy incident last night, I'm beginning to think I agree with him.

I just can't for the life of me see how the ref couldn't give it. It wasn't the case where the guy was sliding after the ball, did he/didn't he get a touch etc.? It was a blatant body-check (with added kick for good measure) with the ball nowhere near, and all 10 feet in front of the ref! You can't even claim that the ref was un-sighted!!!!

I can't begin to put into words how angry I am about this, even hours later. Saturday's penalty claims were decent shouts, although you could just understand why the ref wouldn't give them, but last night's - stonewaller doesn't even begin to describe it.

I usually abhor all the 'conspiracy' stuff you get on here, but other than a ref displaying almost unheard of levels of incompetency, is there any other explanation?!?

Artistika a.k.a bawbag (nice one KG) we beat France in Paris same way we beat them in Glasgow....

A team cant keep up the pressure constantly ad infinitum and we were looking jaded last night and ready for a bad result. I personally think we have a better chance of beating Italy than we do of having to just draw with them - we do underdog well.

Bad decisions go our way as well as against us and we should leave the conspiracy theories to the tubes who are now as we speak blaming their failure to qualify on Roman Abramovich and games yet to happen in Israel..... they cheered me up today - what a laugh....

I agreed with you about this, and I think everyone's naive to think this isn't a possibility.

3 stone wall penalties denied with both referees looking decidedly nervous afterwards. Defensive enough to book Ferguson and McCulloch for even questioning the decision against Ukraine, and if you saw the look on the ref's face running away after the Georgia decision!!!

They're done and dusted though and I think we need to highlight these decisions now so the same doesn't happen against Italy and then get described as unlucky or 'what goes around comes around' GTF!!!!

And German Exile, if you think the ref made a mistake, look at the photo. The ref was standing right behind that and claimed Kizanishvili played the ball.

I'm sorry but the Scotland rugby team didn't manage a challenge like that throughout the World Cup!

...and I need to add, without sounding obsessive, that the linesman had a clear view across the park of this, who is in communication with the referee, and the referee still thinks Zurab played the ball. How many officals can make the same glaring mistake?

I reckon Zurab was trying to do us a favour and win us a penalty cos this was a worse challenge than Fernando Meira's on Alan Hutton!

I still thought that our performance was half hearted though given the injuries etc perhaps understandable. The Georgians set out their young uns and we are supposed to have a decent u21 and U19 but did not use them against this oyung team, it will take a great effort to beat Italy, and the French will then know what they need to do, but I will be there ticket or not as I was for the World Cup qualifier a few years ago when we scared them,

This is a conspiracy theory but let's look beyond that and be counted on 17th November.

It's a theory that someone from UEFA's had a quick word in the ref's ear to say don't gee them anything!

UEFA will definetly want Italy and France at the finals. No doubt about it. On top of this you have Italy with the old mafia contacts through-out europe, and a whole lot of moneay resting on one game against scotland, you think nobody in the most corrupt country in football is going to try have a word with the ref? I doubt it.

I have to agree that as more and more decisons are going against Scotland that matches are being fixed. All the big teams always seem to reach the big tournaments and this may be down to external factors. However we still hold qualification in our own hands and if we win this will all be forgotten about!

OK so a bad decision went against the Scots (a very bad one at that!) but whats all this conspiracy nonsense. It was a poor performance against an inexperienced side and you lost 2-0. I was rooting for the Scots but have gotta say they didn't deserve to win that one at all.
Still, at least destiny is still in your own hands and you can make up for it with a win next month.
