The Formula One drivers' championship heads into a last-race three-way battle for the first time in 21 years.

Lewis Hamilton is four points clear of McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso, and a further three ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.

Although Hamilton appears to be a strong favourite, history suggests anything could happen.

I predicted Raikonnen 1st, Alonso 3rd and Hamilton out of it in this column yesterday. I just wish I'd put money where my mouth was!

Hamilton will have a great future. Alonso should take a year off, maybe two.

unlucky lewis hamilton u shud av won!!!!

Yes, in China but today he made another silly mistake when all he had to do was finish behind Kimi and Fernando.

In short, he blew it in China and again today.

Bye bye Lewis. It was good while it lasted.

What a load of bull some of you write,To be fair most comments are honest support for a particular driver and, in the main, acceptable but there are some on here who havent a clue about formula one and just like to post nasty views, ach well it's all over now and, regardless of who I support, though I still think lewis is the business,it was a breathtaking race.I look forward to next seasons racing yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Unbelievable how FA overtook Hamilton riding a turtle of a car.

LH finally cracked under pressure.

Well done KImi!

move over Mystic Meg!

I'm delighted for Kimi, gutted for Lewis, relieved that Alonso got the third place he so richly deserved. Lewis made a definite rookie error, unnecessarily trying to pass Alonso, and all his woes followed from there. It'll be interesting to see if he can bounce back next year when he is now a known quantity.

Raikkonen will win the title, he is far more compossed, has no pressure, has Massa to help him if he needs it, and most importantly the Ferrari's are far superior at Brazil. The McClarens will struggle to even get in the top 4 with the williams and renault cars."

I love been right. The press hyped Hamilton up too much, and put him under too much pressure

To Chrisdennison, which planet are you from? Yes Lewis blew it in china, but to make your bye bye comment is just rediculous. he will definitely be back next year stronger and more determined than ever, the next Schumacker, I think. As for Alonso, I'm glad he didn't win the championship, he may be a good driver, but a lousy sportsman, and we can do without his kind in the sport.

I said before the last race that the championship was are irrelevance due to so much being won off the track.

Just to prove my point there are still appeals going on. What a joke for a once great sport.

Same planet as you mate. Lewis is good but he blew it. Whether he has the talent or the guts to go one better remains to be seen. McLaren was a lousy "team" this year but had the best car. Lewis should look further afield if he wants to be WDC because this year RD couldn't cope.
