I have just returned home - a 200 mile trip - from the Grand Final..
Saints have had a roller coaster of success since Super League started, and as they say, every dog has it's day.
BUT, last night Leeds deserved their win 100%. There is no bigger Saints fan than me but you cannot win them all.
I thought Leeds were unbelievable last night and Saints couldn't hold them although the Roby try was superb.
I was sat with a bunch of Rhinos fans and they were great - they deserved the success and I congratulated them all - we had a good laugh and went our separate ways.
I was disgusted with the many so called Saints fans who left early. IT'S A GAME!! Someone has to lose! I've probably seen them loose more times than you have had hot dinners in over 40 years. We can do without trophy hunters. Learn to show grace in defeat. We can't all be winners. After a serious illness I know what is important in life - I hope.
Get behind the team next season and with some re-building and the use of youth Saints can become great again.
Come on you Saints!
But, again, WELL DONE LEEDS!

Great post K72. I don't think Saints are gone for good - one bad game doesn't make a champion side rubbish overnight. Saints will be there or thereabouts for years to come, I'm sure.

You might be being a bit harsh on people who left early - I know some did but the vast majority in the Saints' end stayed until the end of game and there was still a sizeable Saints crowd during the awards.

Having an excellent academy system and bringing youngsters through certainly seems to work for Leeds and long may it continue.

Well done leeds, now they have to do what they keep failing to do and fallow it up with a nother cup in quick sucession to prove they are a top team. As for saints they have lost one honour out of the last six thay are still a great side.

well done to Leeds Rhinos because on the night you were awesome!!!
but beware the wounded Saints for they shall return and will want their title back. Roll on next season I can't wait to see the sparks fly and I believe it will be even better than any Super League season!

As a Saints fan of course I am gutted. However that aside, congratulations to Leeds. You thoroughly deserved the win with that performance.

Saints will still be in the top 4 next season.

When you look at the difference between 06 and 07 we lost Vinnie Anderson and Paul Anderson, we lost Jamie back to Oz and then Hooper to injury. On top of that we lost Scully and Long for most of the season.

On the plus side we have brought on plenty of youngsters. We also got Gidley who has defended well but frankly not been the attacking force of Lyons.

Given that Scully Long and Cunningham all have to be viewed as in their twilight you could view us as a team in transition and that was a hell of a season for a side in transition.

But.....we do need to see something new injected into the side or it might not be a transition. The next few weeks are going to be very interesting - I hope!

Agree whole heartedly. Well done Leeds. Who turns up on Grand Final day and performs deserve to win. Saints have had a great season and will undoubtedly challenge next season. Will they win it, they could but they might not. That is what is needed to make GB better.

Being an avid Saints fan I have confidence in the coach and administration at the club and losing on Saturday doesn't make me change my mind on that. To all those Saints fans who think the era of success has ended, it hasn't. Saints might not win everything in sight but I think they will put one pot on the shelf next year.
