Browse: Motorsport McLaren Equality Phobiaby racedirector (U9231875) 10 October 2007 Perhaps the reason for the McLaren debacle last weekend was their obsession with driver equality and not wanting to give FA an excuse to cry foul. Didn't LH say that he had eventually attempted to pit on the scheduled lap? Presumably the team were desperate to keep to the schedule to avoid appearing to do something which might be seen as giving LH an advantage over FA. enory04 (U10040353) posted Oct 16, 2007 now alonso wants to be treated equally when all season he wanted to be no 1 driver in the garage, he should make up his mind, and why does the governing body get involved in internal team matters... this was an exciting season until Alonso cried and cried and ruined the season... thanks fernando

eaurouge2 (U9664134) posted Oct 18, 2007 You are right, he IS a poison apple and it will be to the team's credit that it does not spread any further. The desire to be number 1 in the team was soon tempered into a request for equality when he saw LH's potential. Why did he not just get on with the job? He's a great driver and should relish the competition. He should have known that blackmailing Ron to get his way would backfire. RD is a scrupulously honest man and wouild not have touched Ferrari bits with a barge board. Alonso cost the team big big money but knowing RD he will get total parity with Hammilton which is more than the devious Spaniard deserves. I think old osnola has got it round the wrong way just like his user name!!

nigewins3 (U9633117) posted Oct 18, 2007 This whole FIA 'thing' supposedly checking equality within the Mclaren team is a JOKE. The F1 teams can do what THEY LIKE within their own teams in regard to their drivers. The FIA have no rules or regulations in regard to this. Just ask Rubens who had to play second fiddle to Schumacher for years...where were the FIA then?

akaPhantomOfTheOpera (U9747373) posted Oct 19, 2007 enory04 >> yep - McLaren can do what they like - they can even put Ron Dennis behind the wheels in Interlagos (if he has a super licence) to improve Hamilton's chances of winning the title

bravesluggy (U10079278) posted Oct 19, 2007 Summary of season so far - Hamilton squeals to media because team tells him not to attempt to overtake team mate when team have first 2 places wrapped up on a circuit where overtaking is virtually impossible. FIA bizarrely launch investigation because of Hamilton complaints. Hamilton is lifted back onto circuit when several cars spin off - no other car is lifted back onto circuit. Alonso reacts to Hamilton's failure to follow team orders in qualifying. Hamilton squeals to media and FIA bizarrely launch investigation and subsequently punish Alonso despite no other team being effected. Hamilton clearly caught breaking safety car rules. FIA forced to investigate due to another team's complaint. Hamilton threatens to walk away from Formula 1 due to such outrageous treatment. No punishment ensues. Alonso finally loses plot and kicks a door in after qualifying (can you blame him). Hamilton gets a new engine for title decider - Alonso doesn't. Whilst all this goes on , Alonso barely complains to media about his treatment by his team but gets pilloried by British press and British race fans. Funny old game.
