Ah well here we go again, whoever becomes the new manager will be the tenth since Jordan took over the club in July 2000,Coppell,Smith,Kember,Bruce,Francis,Kember again,Symons,Dowie,Taylor and ???,all this does not say much for the chairman`s judgement, perhaps he could become player manager himself, after all he looked pretty nifty on the wing against Man Utd old boys a year or so ago and the job is only a temporary one anyway...see you all in Div 1 next season.

Eewires.

I too believe Pete was a genuine Palace man at the end of the day. I also have reservations about Warnock but it sounds like a done deal.
Ince though is an enemy of our club. Cast you mind back to 1995's Cantona incident. "Come on then, we'll take you all on!" he taunted. Can't forget behaviour like that I'm afraid. Also he played for umpteen clubs and already has two clubs under his management belt having only been a manager for five minutes.
I'm hoping next manager we get will last longer than the usual year-and-a-bit and I don't think Ince is the man for that reason alone.

I am hoping that Warnock doesn't get the job, although he would be good to get the club moving forward. I would hope that Paul Sturrock would get a look in. Good job at Plymouth and Swindon, his time at southampton was too short to make an impact.

It could be a while before Palace are able to challenge for a promotion spot, simply because it may take a couple of seasons to clear out the players that Palace do not want.

Aaron did an interesting list, a pretty fair assessment of the squad.

I think the new manager will not like the players he has to work with & will need time to get rid of crap and consequently have to pay for good players (which will be expensive).

The best thing for Palace to do is:

1) Identify and hire the correct manager
2) Let new manager get on with the job, and give him plenty of time to sort out the squad.

That 4-1 opening day win seems very jammy now.

I didnt know whether to cheer or cry when i heard the news.

I know that PT is a palace man through and through but he didnt get the best out of the squad and I think in the end it was best for him to leave.

I think Neil Warnock is a perfect replacement, he is a motivator and will get those players playing with pride.

I also think that it is only matter of time that Simon Jordan sells up he has so many managers i think the supporters will very restless and turn on him.

And also Ben Watson will leave if he knows whats good for him, as much as I admire him as a player I dont think this team is right for him.

Peace out

Although Warnock is generally hated by everyone, he is one of the only people in the game that will speak his mind and also be very honest regarding his opposition.
It would be great to have the likes of "Jose" here but I don't think he would tolerate walking through puddles of urine to his office near the meat counter in Sainsbury's.

I've noticed that a lot of the posts from rival fans are laying in to Simon Jordan for constantly hiring and firing but this is not the case.

To be quite honest, Jordan is just a poor judge of manager; his best two appointments have been Dowie and Bruce. Bruce he is still good friends with and Dowie... well we know what happened there.

Peter Taylor is a nice bloke, and his skills as a winger, so I'm told, were second to none, but his skills as a manager leave a hell of a lot to be desired. It was the same awful, boring, route one football, picking journeyman players over young exciting talents, poor substitutions... the list is endless.

I have no doubt he is a good coach, but as a manager in The Championship and above I wouldn't have faith in him.

It's certainly different to have quite an amicable split for once, and Peter's parting words show what a true gent he is. I think everyone dreams of one of their legendary players coming back to manage them to glory - the same happened with Steve Kember, but it just wasn't to be.

Personally, I wish him all the best in his next job, wherever it is.

Nice bloke and good coach for bringing young players through, yet management craft and guile lacking.

Warnock is not a favoe rite of mine but he has made a name of getting the best out of average players and to be fair we have more than our fair share of those...

I can't stand Warnock although he would be a good manager for the club, then again i couldn't stand Bruce, and he did a very good job in the five minutes he was there so what do i know?? I would like to see Martin Allen there, but Warnock seems a done deal. Can't we tempt Chris Coleman back??
Only thing with Aaron's squad assessment is that at the moment Champ quality players are the only players who are likely to join Palace, we sometimes like to think we a bigger club than we are. Also players like Dickov are needed by Champ clubs, we can worry about signing Prem players if we ever get back there!

After some of Soares late displays in the Premiership and brief spells of magic last season (although he was injured most of the time how can you possibly say at the age of 21 with developing potential can you call him a championship player!?Him not showing his full potential is a direct result of Taylor's poor man management, not his own! And are you forgetting some of our youngsters? Aswell as Watson adn Soares, Lewis Grabban showed in the few performances granted by Taylor he may just have the quality we need upfront to replace our past it players such as Dickov, Scowcroft and, dare I say it Morrison. Arsenal were scouting Grabban at one point and they rarely ge ttheir youngsters wrong!
