Premier League chelsea manchester united arsenal liverpool
comment on the article

CFC are back with a vengeance. Watch out gooners as we'll soon be overtaking you. LFC fans, what can I say? I told you along time ago, you are not a threat to the big boys!!!

I've always said that once we get Ricky C, Frankie L and the Drog back we'd be a force once again, and I was right!!!

Isn't Valencia the house that Benites, supposedly, built?

Errata: We loved Jose, we love Jose and we will ALWAYS love Jose Mourinho!!!!! Even so, well done Avram!!!

The last couple of days have been really hectic. What's the latest on the new backroom staff (DreamTeam) that Mr. A's putting together? Any predictions for this weekend?

This has probably been one of the most popular threads in 606 history. I thank one and all for your contributions!!

ormer Arsenal star Manu Petit has revealed how Arsene Wenger's man-management ability brings the best out of his players.

"He is very intelligent," said Petit, "but his main quality is the relationship he has with his players. Football is business. Arsene understands that. But he shares a tight bond with his squad. Not so much on the football side, but as human beings.

"He does not miss a trick. You could sometimes see him watching you get out of your car in the morning. He would pick it up if you didn't look happy. He'd ask you about it - and he would expect you to tell him the truth.

"He's very open. He trusts you. If I had family problems, or if I was feeling tired, he would leave me out or take some action that would help me. There wasn't anything you couldn't tell him. He's very open. He brings humanity into it.

"Any problems you could talk to him about. But if you lied to him, or pretended with him, that trust would go quickly.

"He's the best manager I worked under. It wasn't about money or fame or ego. It was about the person."

Petit also told the Daily Mail: "You might say that the first team he built at Arsenal was not that pretty. But remember that was in his first season. The players, the supporters, the media, the people he worked for - they did not have the confidence in him from the start.

"So, we had to go another way. We had this fighting spirit, this toughness on the pitch. We won the Double. It was not beautiful but, all of the time in training, we would play one touch, two-touch. That has always been the same. That has carried on. Only now people have the confidence in him.

"It has just snowballed from the early days. We did it then, but it has become almost second nature now to the players at Arsenal. All of them, from the youth system upwards.

"It has always been his way. I can give you an example. I remember when I was 18 and playing for Monaco. There were some brilliant footballers in that team, people like Glenn Hoddle. In training, once he pointed at me and told me in front of everyone that I had class been the best player on the pitch, because when I received the ball, I controlled it with my first touch and gave it with my second.

"He is into receiving, moving and passing. That's the key. He sees people who are confident and have the ability to do that. That is his talent.

"I think he wants to create a brand of football at Arsenal. The Arsenal way . . ."

and by the way CFC bought there way into the spotlight, your not even in the TOP 3 clubs in London.

Is Blue Comrade serious? Look at the last 4 seasons to see who the big spenders were?

Bearing in mind Chelsea were massively in debt at the close of 2002/03 but went on to spend £9m Cech, £6m Johnson, £6m Bridge, £13m Ferreira, £20m Carvallho, £5m plus Gallas for Tweedy (although the Gallas bit is starting to look decent business), £9m Robben, £6m Joe Cole, £16m Makelele, £16m Mikel, £24m Essien, £17m Duff, £26m Drogba, £31m Sheva (snigger) £13m Malouda, £5m Kalou, £5m Alex, £?m Ben Haim, £?? Sidwell, £20m SWPhillips. There are more but Im bored - but that's about £250m in 4 years with a small recoup in Duff, Eidur and Robben of around £30m. Not to mention the astronomical wages of Ballack so they could get him on a free. Plus half a dozen or so players on ca£100kplus a week deals. And payoffs to Jose and Ranieri won't have come cheap. If I'm pushed, I'd guess Chelsea were the big spenders of the last four years.

And I love the way Grant should have served his apprenticeships at smaller clubs like Ajax, Milan and United before going to Chelsea. Yes, mate. That's the natural order of things. Start off in front of 60 or 70,000 fans whilst you're green and then, when you get some experience, get in front of 25,000.

What evidence does the thread starter base his assessment on?
I havent seen anything to suggest Chelsea are any sort of worry to those teams already in the top 4 slots?!

A good win against Valencia still doesn't prove anything!
