Rugby world cup England

So Andy Farrell has been announced at inside centre in place of Olly Barkley, Tait remains at outside centre, Robinson is back at fullback with Lewsley on the wing.

Is Brian Ashton just trying to counter the strenth of Mortlock?
Is this the right decision?

Breaking news: Farrell is out of the Australia game with a calf injury. Who will replace him?

That's not good news.
I'd go for Flood, because of the Newcastle axis, but that news has definitely diminished the team.
Looks like the "get the youngsters" in brigade are going to get their wish, unfortunately. -normally I'd be all for it, but not in a Test of this importance.

16 pages of posts and Farrell's not even playing! What a waste. Put Tom Rees in there he's quicker than the rest and would be less controversial than Farrell. (Note to Brian Ashton that was a joke! and not dallaglio either!!!)
I'd put Barkley at 10 and Johnny at 12 or go for broke and have Hipkiss and Tait in the center. Although it's more a 2nd fly half role in SH it isn't that much different than outside center (about the same difference as fly-half playing there, Will Greenwood switched the roles quite often) Or fly out Anthony Allen if they want a specialist, or ask Vainikolo if he'll play and put Lewsey in the center!

OK I'm done, I don't know what to do (and neither does Ashton by the looks of it)

There have been Leicester supporters on other threads in the past claimimg that Hipkiss was a terrible inside centre and only improved as an outside centre in the last 18 months or so.
What chance somebody wangling a pass for Tindall? He's an outside centre only, but would put the blocks on Mortlock. Problem is, what we gain in defence we lose in attack and we still have the IC dilemma.

... in fact now I think about it, it should be Hipkiss. He runs straight stays on his feet just long enough to give our Back row a chance to get there and would at least be a target and keep Barnes and Giteau honest. So we've only got Johnny kicking, well Barkley hasn't exactly frightened anyone except his own team with his kicking game so far and his defence is awful. The combination argument doesn't even cut it with all the changes there have been at this tournament.
Go on Brian, give it a dash!

Why, why, why Regan???? I'm sure he's a nice bloke but he isn't good enough, against the Aussies you need terriers like Chuter or Mears.
And please take a chance and drop Corry, I know he scored a couple of tries but he's not the man for the job. And why drop the under-rated Borthwick who is on top form>
