Just thought i would mention how good hutton has been lately...he had a hand in every goal that rangers scored in the CL so far with his mazy runs.

I think he adds a much bigger threat to RB for Scotland..i know that he does tend to put in a rash tackle here and there and lunge in occassionaly which can be pretty sore on the eyes but gernerally he is superb at getting up and down the wing and doubles up as a second winger at times.

just remember he is still young and learning..i have no doubt he will go on to be a top RB for a top club in europe and for Scotland.

and theres also Whitaker too!

just need Stevie smith to come back to form hopefully and thats LB sorted as well for Scotland.

as a sheff united i cant see why your manager picks gary naysmith and not chris armstrong who is eligible to play for scotland and quicker, better at tackling and can be relied on to stay fit - that said naysmith is hardly a regular for you anyway

Naysmith was a regular before he got hamerred by injuries. He was a good player at Hearts and Everton but he seems to lost pace through his injuries. Not the player he was that's for sure, it's shame really.

Who is Chris Armstrong?

He won't get a sniff at the moment. Scotland have a fairly long list of good quality central midfielders. If the likes of Thomson can't get in the squad, who earlier in the week played a big part in keeping Lyon in their place at home, there there's little hope for Armstrong, or any other championship player. ok

Oh, and to whoever the monger slating Whitaker and Thomson is - grow a pair. ok

Armstrong is a left-winger or left-back actually and impressed in the prem last season so maybe you should actually learn sonething before commenting.

Kevo I wasn't intending to be cheeky, I was genuinely asking who the guy is. Personally I don't know too much about team line-ups outside the EPL top 4/5 teams. Except for the guys already playing for Scotland and the odd guy who has moved down there. But when you say Armstrong is "eligible" to play for Scotland does this mean he is English but has a scottish parent/Grandparent? Has probably never played in Scotland and no doubt spent a lot of time in the championship(or lower) therefore I have never heard of him.

What club does he play for?

i think mcleish watched him at some point last season but he was born in england and played for england u20 but has scottish relatives

also was offered compensation to retire due to a knee injury but has come back to make himself a 1st team reg at sheff united and seems to me a better LB than naysmith

I heard that Scotland wanted Chris Armstrong for their squads but were blocked by the English FA because he played for England in a 'B' International.
So, although I agree he's a good player and could've been a good option for the LB slot, he won't get a chance unless the FA withdraws it's complaints.
Also I think Hutton's got a bit of the Cafu about the way he plays, great going forward but a few weaknesses defensively..... saying that it didn't stop Cafu becoming a legend so here's hoping for Hutton! ok
