i can hear it already.. the i hate ian ashbee brigade, sharpening there pencils.. finally got some ammunition to throw at him.. oh his hot headedness has cost us, drop him, blah , blah, blah.. well im here to make my case before it happens!
before the incident.. ashbee was having a terrific game.. in fact i think charlton targeted him.. not in the same way ronaldinho or ronaldo is targeted. and some of you are probably thinking what is he on about?. but after the game the pundits stated that andy reid was by far the best player on the field.. well yes he was for 50 mins.. for the first 40 mins, he was anonymous.. ashbee rattled into him at every oppurtunity.. didnt give him an inch.. was it just a coincidence that we controlled the first half, but were completely outplayed in the second??
not to me it isnt.. they were given all the time in the world in the second half, because he wasnt there! and i think that proves the point ive been making about ash since the summer..
secondly.. the sending off itself , it was never even a free kick, he took the ball. so the whole fight afterwards should have been avoided.. if he did kick out, then yes he deserves to go.. but if you had a free kick unfairly awarded against you, then someone kicks out at you like the charlton player did.. then i think anybody would react!! as ive said, i think they were targeting him because they were constantly niggling away at him, and overreacting to his every challenge..(some will laugh but i think they saw ash as a key player , and who can argue after the contrasting displays of 1st and 2nd half)
i think his abscence away at palace and watford will also be highlighted in the next 2 weeks..
any way just thought id get my view across now instead of waiting for the abuse.

Shall we all have a go at charlton? Football is unfair, lets not whine and cry like children.

Ashbee got nowhere near the ball and he deserved to go. But so did Sam for reacting like he did.

Charlton are never usually like this. They have in the past been criticised for being too nice. Now, when they play tough, they are also maligned. They'll need to to get out of this league, so get used to it.

just watched the incident on youtube. sorry hull fans, can not see where your coming from, he may from got the slightest touch on the ball but he then quite clearly kick sam twice. sam then falls (maybe jumps hard to tell) and is put in a headlock from what the camera angle shows. yes ashbee deserved to be sent off but i'm not too sure about sam, maybe a yellow

Charlton a disgrace?
And what do you judge this on? One game in which there was a mass fight on the pitch. Charlton have had an excelent fair play record in recent years. Both teams have been charged so ive got a bad feeling that this could rumble on.

charlton, you can go on about you're previous fair play records but again. that was unbder curbishley, not the weirdo in charge now. i agree that ashbee and sam both deserved to go but it was our disallowed goal and your allowed one that got all us hull fans so annoyed. that and 'head injuries' from your team but none of ours was what won the game, and annoyed us so much. p.s. qpr DO cheat make no mistake.

I wouldent swap our "weirdo" for any other manager in the Championship.
As for the sendings off of Ashbee and Sam i agree that they both should have gone but retaliation or not Ashbee should not have acted the way he did.

"yes sim, he is my fave player.. and tues proved why.. you didnt get a look in when he was on the pitch.. im not denying he deserved to be sent off.. i wrote this article to other city fans to highlight the effect his abscence had.. i didnt intend it to turn into a battle royal between the 2 sets of fans"

---

Well that I can understand. Fair enough. It's a rather stressful time for both sets of fans, I feel, and the FA's reaction to the incident has been slightly over the top again.

I find the comments aimed at Pardew rather alarming, however. Wierdo? In what way? On what grounds?

Cheats as well is rather rich. You are quite happy to target Charlton for poor performances from both teams all round, but ignore the obvious misdeeds of Players like, for example, John Terry. Snatching the referee's cards out of his hand? Come on, get real.

"However, if you've watched the match in your opinion as a referee (not sure what level) can you tell me what you thought of Mr Taylor's performance?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and yes I do change my mind when seeing incidents replayed several times. I'ed love to see this game again in full just to confirm what we've been saying all along and that the ref had a terrible (putting is mildly) game and he totally lost the plot.
In my opinion a referee of his calibre should not be refereeing a match at this or any other level. If he's not dealt with, which I doubt he will be, he'll probably return to oversee another City game or even a Charlton match!"

Lippy, I agree entirely. I'm currently sunday league, hoping to move up to conference level (at 20 years old that's not bad going), and really and truely, Taylor is a dreadful referee. Why? Because he does not have any authority behind his decisions whatsoever - I found him, on a replay of the match, looking towards his linesmen and fourth official for guidance, almost every decision! Indescisive, and poorly executed.

Sadly, you may be right on another count - he will probably referee us again. There are too little decent referees coming through the ranks, and the great game will suffer even more. I wouldn't mind the mistakes so much, if there was more confidence behind the decisions!!!!
