No Benc-bwfc - Bolton don't have such a motto. There are only 4 clubs in the Prem that appear to hold with such a tradition; as previously mentioned, Spurs - "Audere est facere" meaning "To dare is to do" and Blackburn Rovers - "Arte et labore" meaning "by skill and labour".

The only others are Everton - "Nil satis nisi optimum" meaning "Nothing but the best is good enough", and Manchester City - "Superbia in proelia," - "Pride in battle".

Just realised that the town coat of Arms for Bolton contains the motto "Supera Moras", which can be translated to mean "Overcome difficulties" .... maybe we should e-mail Reebok and get this put onto the next batch of the Whites players shirts .... <laugh>

in fairness i think "Supera Moras" is quite apporpriate for the club.
think of all the difficulties that we've overcome in the past....
-lack of funds but still successful
-the whole only a little club menatlity of the supposed bigger clubs
-we've consistently hit above our weight
-and we've proven to people that the long ball, physical style we played can be a successful system.

personally i think its a gud motto and wud be something for certain under performing players (i will name no names), to think about and use as abit of motivation.

thoughts people.

Unfortunately, it's the manager who has torn up the ' blueprint for success ' at Wanderers ( with the blessings of some fans, who deluded themselves that we should be able to play like Man U or Arsenal every week but on a ' penny tray ' transfer budget ... <doh> )

Players need to play to a system they can both understand and trust ... so far .. that has eluded the Whites, because there's not been anything approaching organisation or consistency ... and our league standing has suffered as a consequence ...

I can think of a few that the Board seem to work to (Sorry don't know the latin):

"Its better in my pocket than yours"

"Its better to accummulate wealth than risk failure"

"Can Sell, Won't Spend"

"It's better to accumulate than speculate"
