Rugby world cup

Evening all. It's the battle of the Pool C basesment teams as Portugal take on Romania in Toulouse.

Portugal have impressed all with their heart and bravery, even scoring a try against the mighty All Blacks, while Romania gave the Italians an almighty fright in Marseille.

What are your predictions for the game?

Romania v Portugal.....A very good game, you have to feel sory for portugal, but that is how rugby goes.

Well done Romania.

Romanian player tries to kick the head off a portuguese player. In front of the linesman. Referee also heard to say,"watch your feet."
No action taken. Never mind the player, the referee and linesman should be cited.

Portugal has been one of the highlights so far in this world cup, they have shown heart and determination, in each match they have scored points, even scoring 13 points against the number one team in the world, get these guys into some professional teams and Portugal will only get better.

Well done Portugal and come back to the next World cup.

I have to say Portugal has probably impressed a lot of people. They certainly have provided us with some great moment. I think with the right administration and backing from the bigger unions in the NH, they could be a force in the next 5 to 10 years.

Well done Portugal, you were outstanding last night. I agree if Portugal has the right backing I can see them becoming a force in Rugby. They have the attitude which other so called much better six nation teams lack!

Very true, I thought last night's game was quality, and goes to show why watching rugby in Division's 1, 2 and 3 in england is far more entertaining than the Premiership. Take away a bit of the structure, and teams just play it how they see it. Well done Portugal, you're a gredit to your country and the RWC, I hope to see you guys in NZ in 2011!

Well done Portugal for showing how passion, determination, effort and organisation can take you a long way. If only Wales could add these attributes to their technical skills then the '05 Grand Slam might not prove to be the exception it now seems.

Also the IRB must recognise the efforts & value of teams like Portugal, Georgia and especially Argentina.

Is it not now time for a two league "9 nations" (or 10 if there is another worthy European country) with 1/up 1 down promotion/relegation each year. As a Welshman I might come to regret such a development but it would add intensity to the competition especially in the top tier with the same points (and bonus point) system as RWC

Agree with ExileNick. The gap between Portugal and NZ for example is too much in terms of skill and ability. An international second division would provide the training, experience and incentive for the game to develop.

And another thing... why isn't there a German team?

Im not sure if this is a silly suggestion but here we go - why not have 6mths before the RWC in 2011 a competion for say the 14 best developing nations - two pools of seven, top 4 from each play QF, SF and the final - the four SFers get to the RWC but the winner of this comp is development rugby world champion?

Or is that like an idea already proposed?

Maybe that or a devlopment pool in the RWC itself - five development nations in one pool - they play as they do now - top two go thru to the next round? Or is that just like getting a bye for the teams from the other pools that get to play them in the QF?

There is a German rugby team, infact there are loads of nations that have rugby teams that we simply dont hear about... a guy from my club was the coach and Captain of Barbados, he got international caps for it too!
