Johnston STARTS AGAIN????

Premier League Everton

Why did Moyes choose to start Johnston again? I admit hes a decent player and has potential to be an Everton great... BUT... at the moment hes NOT scoring and NOT playing well...

Surely for todays game at Villa he should have been dropped to the bench and McFadden should have started with Yakubu or Ainchebe?

What more does McFadden need to do for a starting role?

MOYES SORT IT OUT!!!!

Simply stating that whilst Mcfadden might be able to do something from Scotland, from numerous games at Everton he just hasn't delivered.

He's been at the club for a good 4 years now, if he had the quality to start, he'd be in there, if not upfront then on the left..its not as if were busting at the seems with quality.

Well the McFadden debate raises it's head on a BBC forum .....

In response to the original question - James has ultimately had, like many other departed Everton players in recent years, more than enough chances to start and impress in a blue jersey. The sad tale is, however, that he has squandered nearly everyone of those chances through an inability to combine his undoubted "natural footballing talent" with a work ethic that befits a professional footballer at this level.

And before we get any smarmy, "spotty kid" comments about my eligibility to state my position on this matter. I am a season ticket holder of 15 years and have watched young James, home and away since his arrival at the club. The truth is, that he has not progressed as a premier league Footballer since his arrival and unfortuantely for us - he is still making the same mistakes time & time again.

If he was granted a move back to Glasgow (where i have no doubt, he would be a star) he would go with best wishes from all the Evertionians - but he is NOT an adequate replacement for AJ or the other forwards at the club.....

I think you are all missing the point here. AJ, Yak, Jimmy, Victor who plays is of little importance when your midfield playmaker is one half of the chuckle brothers. Phil Neville works hard shows great committment but unfortunatley has no passing ability at all and is infact only second to Hibbert as the worse distributer of the ball in the team. Play him at right back that achieves two things, gets him out of harms way in the middle and gets rid of Hibbert who every team in the premiership recognise as a weak link and exploit every week. We need creativity and when Tommy G and Mikel come back we will be transformed. Keep Jag as the midfield ball winner he is better than Neville and has more passing ability.

When johnson eventually gets off the mark he will explode and start to respond to his critics.

philyrobo

No one would have criticised Johnson this time last year, get off the lads back its not as if he doesnt make up for any lack of goals with effort and persistance...it'll come.

----------------------------------------------

You might be right about that one, Johnston had scored 6 goals in the 9 games up to the end of Sept. last year. Of course the bad news is that from then 'til the 7 of Jan. he only scored ONE more goal. So if this is his "hot" period I'm scared to think whats in store for the rest of the year!

Someone mentioned Peinnar too. From what i saw today he doesnt seem to have the strength or temprament for this league, what do you guys recon? After he lost out in a few challenges he seemed to lose his head, prob should have come off after 55 mins.

Mcfadden?!?! He may be good for scotland but i can assure you as an everton fan he is far from good when in the colours of everton. I am sure he has ample talent but for whatever reason does not show it when playing for us. I for one would not lose any sleep if he never played for us again. I know he tries but it is frustrating when lots of people tell you he has talent but time after time fails to deliver when given a chance. He had that chance on Thursday against Metalist but to ended up one of the worst players on the pitch. If he has so much talent should have eaten the Metalist players up. All he tried to do when he got the ball was cut inside for the spectacular shot and everytime the Metalist players just took the ball off him like he was a third rate player.
I hope John Henrys Hammer, as a football fan yourself you can understand that Everton fans have had enough of seeing a player not perform and without being nasty to the lad it is time he moved on and didn't place that Everton shirt on his back again.
By the way i am not a spotty 14 year old but i am a frustrated Everton fan

I think this comment makes the most sense I've heard in a long time! I was at the match yesterday and was thoroughly disappointed by the lacklustre performance. I waited at the3 the players exit at the end of the match and saw just how small we were and how massive the Villa players were. No wonder we couldn't win a challenge!

Yes. Totally agree. Neville should be at right back, he's far more effective there all round. During his few starts in that position he's made good runs forward and crosses well. I seem to recall that we've even netted a few from his deliveries out of that position. This addresses to some degree our biggest problem - delivery to the forwards. It's been a problem for ages now and perhaps is why so many forwards fail at Everton. Hibbert should at best keep the bench warm with Carsley. I hope you're right and the team shapes up again with the return of Grav and Arteta. Otherwise it's going to be a long season!.. or a very short one Europe-wise
