Gutted but...Premier League Newcastle United by Appy Ammer (U1683086) 23 September 2007 Fair play to you, took your chances and we didnt. We really missed bellamys pace, and Viduka had one of his 'I feel like actually playing today' days. Any chance of selling us harper as a reserve keeper? ;-) Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

bubbleboy2 (U8999509) posted Sep 23, 2007 We lost today because Lucas Neill was very very poor. He had two chances to clear before N's first and was completely out of position for their second and third.

DirkDiggler (U1689999) posted Sep 23, 2007 No excuses from this Hammer. I thought we were abysmal in the second half, passing was pathetic, defending was embarassing, and there was no penetration whatsoever. Personally apart from a good shot in the first half, Noble was awful.

Surrealist73 (U9742829) posted Sep 23, 2007 As a hammer, 'The Toon' deserved the win. They took their chances and the result reflected their effort. Viduka played the part and it was an entertaining game all round. We played well, the football looked good, the effort was there and we should not make excuses that we missed a player or two. We had a problem with dealing with low crosses from the left and Newcastle took advantage. That's a fact. Bellamy being there would have made no difference, so get over it. All credit to Newcastle, they found a weakness and pounded it. I think that's an area Curbs needs to work on.

Steve Chrome (U2383405) posted Sep 23, 2007 why does everyone think that viduka only 'plays' when he feels like it? How many goals did he score last season for a poor boro side? mmmm i think it was 19. He's not fat either...

Vintagebubbles (U8560979) posted Sep 24, 2007 The only decent thing Ashton done that game was score the goal. Carlton Cole was a waste of space. I know we havent got any strikers fit but we needed Bellars there. If he was there maybe the score line was a bit more fair. We didnt play like total headless chickens but we just couldnt find the net. Lee Bowyer had a good few chances, But yet again they paniced infront of goal and it went wide. At least with Bellars and Zamora they run until the ball in out of play. Just like Ehterington and Bowyer.

garyport (U5525156) posted Sep 25, 2007 Gotta question Anton's commitment in this game, couldn't believe how he just jogged over to try and block the pass which led to their 3rd goal, he should be bustting a gut. Poor defensive performance all round though, and 2nd half just poor team performance. 1st half was ok and didn't deserve to be 2-1 down, just the blinkin defence strolling around and not getting any challenges in.
