Landis loses his appeal

comment on the article

Former Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has lost his appeal against a ban imposed following his failed drugs test at the 2006 race.

The 31-year-old American tested positive after his sensational victory on the 17th stage of the 2006 Tour, which he later went on to win.

The American Arbitration Association (AAA) upheld a two-year suspension which will run until January 2009 and Landis also forfeited his Tour title.

He was fighting a US Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) punishment after testing positive for synthetic testosterone.

Landis has denied using drugs and alleged incompetence at the French laboratory which tested his sample.

After over 13 months of discussions and claims since the Tour ended, should the saga now be laid to rest?

RE: nutjob
"I should also point out that you used the very same term in what was, I believe, your very first post on the 606 Cycling baords."

Sure did. But *I* learned to stop using it.

I'm not squabbling. I left the thread ages ago - but you keep coming back and posting multiple personal posts about me. Should I be bullied off the site by somebody like you? The simple answer is: of course not. I WILL LEAVE THIS THREAD NOW. So hopefully that should put an end to this nonsense. It's then up to you to act like an adult and refrain from having the last word.

But the whole thing has just reopened,

I thought in effect, Bjarne Riis was the first rider to have his title stripped from him, he did not give it back.

But it must be Landis; because ESPN reports and the BBC report says so too, that he is the first rider stripped of his Tour De France title.

BBC article.

Admittedly, with the troubles we see sportsfigures get into; it is easier for the general public to understand than some of the intricacies of a sport, it be cycling or american football.

I have long ago proposed
that all bans against all
performance enhancing drugs
be lifted. it is my
contention that the athletes should
use whatever means
they wish to achieve their
goals.
