McLaren - to appeal or not?

In an ideal world, McLaren should appeal the size of their penalty. Yes Coughlan had the document but info like when Kimi was pitting didn't come from that document. It was just F1 as usual - as PDLR explained. That should not be punishable.

McLaren has already fired Coughlin. There is no proof of usage.

I'd say let them keep the points and the ones from the coming races and just fine them the $100m.It'll still balance out.

But this is Max Morsleys's world so I suspect any kind of appeal will be met with even a harsher penalty. Just because he can!

Ajroldi! That is why I spelt it wrong in the first place! If you were italian as you claim to be you would have known what I was referring to - hence my theory that you had to ask someone and couldn't get a online translation to know what this means!

Of course you may well be italian for all I know - which is my point - about anonymity!

If Ron Dennis thought the team was innocent he would appeal. If he thought they were guilty he would accept the verdict and pay the $100M. Which did he do?

Mclaren did NOT spy! They were GIVEN a document! IF they used information from this what did they do wrong? Nothing I perceive. If you were handed the answers to a test paper in advance how many of you would NOT look at it? Honest answers only please!! erm

nobleSusannah >> you either have the innocence of a child or you are being disingenious

why did McLaren employee - Coughlan - fly to Barcelona - to meet Stepney (Ferrari)?

Ron Dennis McLaren were cheats - the McLaren team was infected in all parts with Ferrari info - even the drivers (e.g. de la Rosa/ Alonso)and engineers (e.g. Coughlan) were freely passing the info around through emails

what more proof do you want - a live display of McLaren simulator and all the data that went into it and all the tests carried out

if McLaren were hard done, there is something called APPEAL

Ron Dennis wont, he can't and he wouldn't because the guy is the headmaster of a group of cheats and we all know it

i applaud Alonso for his courage and the FIA for coming down hard on McLaren - please do the same

there must be zero tolerance to cheats/spying/infringement of rules irrespective of which team is at fault

if you buy a stolen good - you are breaking the law and should be punished

it's no good saying i looked at leaked exam questions and i did nothing wrong because others would have done the same - absolute rubbish

grow up nobbleSussanah - you either condone cheating or you don't

the question is do you condone cheating?

Many Macca fans still don't realize the gravity and the impact of the recent spystory scandal.

They tend to minimize and justify...like anything done against Ferrari is acceptable.

Remember what Mosley said?
"There is a chance that in the future we regret this verdict."

In fact, there is more than a chance that the story isn't finished yet..Ferrari is still pursuing the matter on legal terms.

Lest the BBC appear to be approving of the increasing obviously wrong and biased decision to penalise McLaren when it is clear that Ferrari had the same access to confidential McLaren information PLEASE in the constructors standings can you show the points McLaren actually won on the track. The fact is they are the best team and silly tantrums byt the FIA cannot change that fact.

"when it is clear that Ferrari had the same access to confidential McLaren information"

What are you blabbering about?
Stepney open his poisonous mouth and all Macca fans listen in awe.
Be realistic, please...haven't you realized Nigel Stepney is a desperate gooner facing italian jail?

Maybe he's looking for a quick buck telling porkies about Ferrari...but apparently he can't find a publisher. Not many are prepared to back up a LIAR.

Having read the transcript of the case, nothing was proven in the case against McLaren. The fine and exclusion was based on circumstancial evidence and was too severe in my opinion.

Whether it was a vendetta against Ron Dennis will be judged on how the FIA deal with Renault and the charges against them.
