Alonso's Future

Formula One

With the confirmation that relations between Ron and Fernado have completely broken down it is quite evident that Fernando can not remain. Ron should look to his contract with Fernando as I am sure Fernando must be in breach by behaving like a spoilt brat.

Fernando has lost the respect of many people. Ron should replace him now. Fernando must know he has screwed up.

Ron should now 100% back Lewis for the title and I am sure Max and others know this will be the likely outcome, although Ron, I suspect, will be a gentleman to the end so as not to lower himself to the standards of Fernando.

LORENAFDEZG, So when did speaking several languages disqualify anyone from behaving like a spoilt brat? Throwing their toys out of the pram and sulking because they were not given preferential treatment over a fellow driver who is as good or better than they are (even though their team-mate does not speak Italian, French or Spanish). Also you did not finish your comment, what about the 'blue-eyed LH?

Alonso doesnt have a future any more in F1. What team would touch him with a bargepole now? Alonso is an average driver but a useless human being. Ron Dennis should sue Alonso for breach of contract and the full recovery of the £50m.

Look, the fact is that we don't know how the whole thing started and who made the first move that led the team into this mess. One thing is sure : it's not only Fernando's fault , as some 'nicknames' are trying to prove

I think it is disappointing that McLaren's season is falling apart in so many ways. Sure Alonso expected to be No 1 as the reigning world champion, and it must have come as much of a shock to him as it was to everybody else that Hamilton was immediately competitive. The problem is that it took him 2/3rds of the season to wake up and stop bitching, and now he is regularly out-performing Hamilton. I can't see Alonso staying at McLaren for next year, and my money's on a return to Renault.

birds - it's not a question of being the fountain. I very much doubt that the guardian - mindful of punitive litigation - would print a story like that without fist checking it out. So I feel this has some solid grounding in truth, if only because of that.

As for blaming Alonso. The details are uot in the open. He could have stayed clear of all this. He could also not have sulked over not being number one. He's a double champ. He has advisors. Somoeone, somewhere, should have done his/her job and warned him before they allowed him to sign. The history of warring McLaren drivers is well known, and should have been known by someone who is a double champion. He pays advisors, who should have done their research.

He was astonishingly mistaken not to have foreseen this. Thete's an article today about Montoya who among other things, says that Alonso expected to be number one. And that, I believe is the source of all his troubles.

Instead of sulking around, he should have said, right Lewis, you think you're good? Eat my dust! But he didn't, did he? He threw his toy away, and began to eat Hamilton's dust instead; which clealry freaked him out, as commentator after commentator has said often enough.

He's not repsonsible for McLaren, but he is(or should be) responsible for himself.

I think most employers would have sacked the member of staff if the had behaved in the way that Saint Alonso has over the last couple of months!!!

Isn't formula 1 about individuals, just because Alonso doesn't toe the corporate line why is that a problem. Look back and the people in the headlines were the drivers not the managers and team principles. If he delivers the goods on the track then what more is needed. Any one can be a face in a suit but winning the F1 world championship against Ferrari and Schumacher.....

Again, BBC is not saying the whole truth about the relationship between Alonso, Dennis and Hamilton.
God knows if there is a real truth somewhere, but its funny how the story is different anywhere else in Europe. IS BBC objective when writing an article?? I doubt so!
1st point: The strategy followed by Alonso during the qualifying session in Hungary, was ordered by MacLaren, and as far as I know, this Hamilton who didnt respect it!!!!
2nd point: Alonso has been called by the FIA as a witness about that Spygate story, so did he have the choice of lying when the FIA knew already about those text and emails.

So please BBC, its OK to support somebody, but you must be objective when reporting the news, not only in sport but in all matters. And this is not the first time that you are lying to your readers..... Shame on you and poor readers.

With only two races to go (yes, I know, I have come to this thread VERY late!) there is no way really that you could or should expect Ron Dennis to replace Alonso, there is simply no point.

But, once the season is over, then he should drop him like the proverbial hot potato! Alonso has shown absolutely no team loyalty, at the end of the day, he may think that he should be the top dog because of his double world title, and he may think that he should receive preferential treatment because of that, but it is a well-known fact that Maclaren do not operate like that. They do not have 'team orders' (Farrari has enough of THEM for everyone!) and therefore, both drivers, be they rookies or world champions, will receive the same treatment.

OK, I do admit that recently it does seem that Lewis Hamilton is receiving the bigger bite of the cherry, but how much of that is down to Alonso's absolutely despicable attitude, ever since he realised that Hamilton could whup the pants off him on the race track? biggrin

From the very first race of the season it was obvious that Hamilton was something special, and I think that Alonso's behaviour is in the large part, sour grapes, and down to the fact that he is a poor loser. OK, so we know these guys are uber-competitive, but there is no reason to let it descend to playground level.
