Flood replaces Noon

Rugby world cup England

Newcastle's Flood has won nine caps for England

England have called up Newcastle back Toby Flood to replace injured centre Jamie Noon at the World Cup.

Flood, who can also cover fly-half, was drafted in after Noon suffered a tournament-ending knee ligament injury in Friday's defeat to South Africa.

England's top two fly-halves - Jonny Wilkinson and Olly Barkley -missed the South Africa game with injury.

But both are expected to be fit for selection for England's crunch game against Samoa in Nantes on Saturday.

Sale prop Stuart Turner will also join England, replacing Bristol's Darren Compton who flew out as temporary cover in the immediate aftermath of skipper Phil Vickery's two-match ban for tripping USA centre Paul Emerick.

Do you think the right players have been called up?

What is the problem with tait playing at center seeing as he did well in the tour from hell!!!

What is the difference from tait and greenwood?
Greenwood made space and stayed on his FEET!!! allowing the forwards to make a 20m break into 40m
, then fast ball=try.
Tait is unable to stay on his feet. So why has Hipkiss been over looked? bcause BA is Bath through and through, Hipkiss is a tiger in the form of his life devastating at every comp last year playing at the top level in every event last year ( unlike newcastle )That my freinds is the difference, wake up! that is why woodward won, he picked players who could cope with the big time, and that is why BA will fail
he has never achieved in the big time, and did fu~~ all with bath, HE HAS TO GO OR ENGLAND WILL DESCEND FURTHER INTO THE MYRE!!!

"What is the difference from tait and greenwood?"

Er, Tait is an OC and Greenwood was an IC? And the two roles are completely different?

It is difficult to see how England could fall any further into the mire, but start sacking the manager every couple of months and we may find out. We need to have a system where the league is in support of the national team, all the while it is in opposition ( and full of mercenaries ) we will fail.

So what you are saying is that BA is biased away from Leicester because of hi Bath background?

Hang on a minute!

Lewis Moody, Martin Corry, George Chuter, Ben Kay. It's a good job that they don't play for Leices.....oh wait, they do.

Fool.

MCSPUDS4824, "BA did **** all with Bath" ? He was coach under Jack Rowell, instrumental in what is probably the most successful period in the club's history. He is a good coach, but needs someone above him to manage, e.g. Clive Woodward, who the RFU failed to appoint. What a mess ....

Richard think your being bit harsh about Scotland.

Some good stuff in the last few games, plenty of handling errors but that will get better with more game time.

Think Scotland are really the only side that seem to be improving out of the SIX nations allbeit against weaker opposition.

Think English side (especially backs) looks bit better now.

Hope Scotland play strong team against All Blacks.

Bring on the weekend!

Opelfroot,
1. Lewis moody has not featured at all, and was immense for tigers going into the world cup!
2. George chuter has hardly featured, he is a better ball carrier, and is quicker than regan!
3. Ben kay could not hold down a fisrt team place at tigers, because louis deacon was in sublime form, so BA releases deacon from the squad, and selects Kay (he obviously knows what he is doing there!)
4. Martin corry is not a flanker, and although he does not make dynamic runs at no8, he always makes the gain line, and the solid pro that he is he will always put his body on the line for who ever he represents.
Also I would like to add who was the most succesful english club team last year IN ALL COMPS? tigers, so what do you do, you pick players from wasps and the like, who it has to be said were in my opinion, well below par last season.
Ref BA I am merely trying to point out this, He was sacked by Ireland what did he do after that? John Wells did very well managing tigers, and was consitently at the top with tigers, so who do you pick, someone who has achieved and knows what it takes to win, or appoint someone who has not produced?
Also it would be interesting just how much input Rob andrew has had in the squad selection, once the RFU have well and truly cocked up! sorry if this appears to make me a rugby fool, but that is how I percieve it perhaps you would care to correct me with your bountiful wisdom!!

You cant build a world cup team on the fly. Is it just me who can hear the sound of deck chairs being scraped around the deck of the titanic.
Individuals scattered here and there cannot be moulded into a team overnight.
All too little too late. Let's give the young guys some experience, start building combinations and look to use this disaster to replace the utterly incompetent fools at the rfu with capable and competent guardians of the game who realised the world kept spinning after 2003.
Also, just as many of the Best SH coaches honed thier skills in the NH, I would be very keen to some of our best English coaches spending time in the SH (Just as CW did, and it did him no harm!). Incidently, I think Samaoa are going to take us to pieces in the loose this weekend.
