Jermaine DefoePremier League Tottenham Hotspur by TimmyTheTroll (U4004587) 16 September 2007 I can't believe Jermaine Defoe wasn't even on the bench yesterday. Jermaine is the most prolific striker at our club. He can run with the ball, he can turn quickly, he can shoot early and he can nick goals in the penalty box. We need a predator in the box. As good as Robbie Keane is, he has never been a goal machine. Goals win games, not fancy flicks. Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

desertwalker (U2496067) posted Sep 17, 2007 Jermaine Defoe has all the right to be frustrated at the lack of first team opportunites at Spurs, particularly because they are also struggling, and yet Jol has failed to call upon him, when he is precisely the one who could change things around. Its a bitter pill for him to swallow and I believe he would have more first team opportunites at Man Utd then at Spurs. If I were him, I wouldnt sign a new contract especially after being threatened by the manager that he would rot in the reserves if a new contract wouldnt be signed. Thats just out of order

manu1manu1 (U7754861) posted Sep 18, 2007 I like Defoe but you have to wonder what he is doing in training not to impress managers. He not a regular for Spurs or England. When you are given slim chances the nature of the game is to be ruthlessly impressive so managers can't overlook you. I think he's right to say he wants to stay and fight for his place it should make him get his head down and become a tougher player.

sammydelac (U3818878) posted Sep 18, 2007 why is jol constantly sticking with keane?? he hasnt given defoe a chance except playing him for the last 15 mins each game. robbie keane hasnt even scored this season, so the mind boggles why defoe and berbatov arent together. darren bent is a good player, but when you have attacking options at a club like spurs do they dont need to spend £16mil on ANOTHER striker, silly money when we desperately need a left mid and get rid of lee yuong pyo!

block35parklane (U9694818) posted Sep 18, 2007 I would like to see Berbatov and Defoe up front with Keane playing a similar role to Joe Cole, cutting in from the left. Lennon on the right, Zokora and Huddlestone central midfield. Also think it might be time to give Cerny or Alnwick a go

frex2000 (U9447951) posted Sep 19, 2007 Defoe is not a team player...simple as that!! He contributes nothing unless it might put him personally on the score sheet and when the chips are down, he hides. Martin knows that, and so did Sven. No other managers will touch him either - if he's that good, then why has no-one come looking for him?? And when you look at his time on the pitch and his role as a pure striker, its not that amazing! Comment on this article |
