What the odds Rafa's rotation policy will be blamed for our poor performance today? Whilst we didn't perform to our best it's foolish to blame it on rotation policies and selection mistakes when the simple fact is that Portsmouth is a hard place to go to and get a result. They never let us play in the style we've been playing so far and fair play to them, they knew if they came out and let us play they'd lose. We've still 11 points after 5 games and are still unbeaten despite playing 3 of our 5 matches away from home. I do wander what would have happened if we'd have play Gerrard, Babel and Torres from the start, but we have to live with the fact that Benitez assesses the players during the week and goes with players who he believes are fresh. Portsmouth just stifled us we have a poor record going to Fratton park and winning and today proved no differences, there's no reason to press the panic button and certainly no reason to believe all the media rubbish that will be written or spoken about Benitez getting it wrong!
Peter Crouch today showed why he's falling down the pecking order at anfield as he was absolutley terrible, Torres came on and showed us what we were missing in the first half. We wasted alot of free kicks in very dangerous postions with the main culprits being Alonso and Benayoun. I'm not going to get too down heartened we have to be realistic and accept that we're not going to play to our best week in week out and today was a slight blemish on another wise perfect start, remember we'd have had 13 points now out of 15 if not for Styles, that is undeniably Champions form, I believe we'll see a return to form in the next match, after all most of our players have been away on international duty and an early saturday morning kick off in an international week is always a tough fixture.

"now you can see why liverpool wont win the league"

LOL brilliant we havent even played 6 games yet, just Man U fan scared sh**less coz there "great teams" grinding out one nils at the moment doh

Heckling aside this was never going to be easy as Portsmouth have been going from strength to strength in my opinion. Draw was about right as both teams missed sitters, hate to kind of agree with some of the lost Mancs on here but it was a faux par by Beni to leave Gerrard and Torres on the bench.

Dont care what anyone says about internationals and all that they should of played the first 60 mins at least then once we had a goal or 2 under the belt then rotate till your hearts content. This could prove to be a vital point and if it wasnt for muppet Styles we would still be top of the league.

I think this game will demonstrate to Rafa that he can't afford to tinker too much with his teams. OK, rest players now and again, but don't keep making radical changes.
Torres and Voronin should be the starting two for most games, until Liverpool come against some of the dross.

"I think P O R T S M O U N T H will finish fouth position this season......"

I think they have as much chance as P O R T S M O U T H finishing fourth ..... but there again perhaps they will finish fouth, which doesn't exist!!

People who are detracting from LFC after an away draw at pompey nned to consider a couple of things:
Rotation- A look at the team suggests that the freshest players ie those who had not played 2 full international matches generally played (Gerrard said himself he had cramp after 70mins last Saturday). Perfectly logical suggestion given the squad strength & depth. Pompey is never an easy away game (for any team).

Performance- All these detracters, have you noticed that amidst all this talk of strikers etc. that LFC have yet to conceed a goal from open play? That kind of form wins championships. Can any of you say the same??

The article is biased. I too support Liverpool, but I think Rafa is to blame this time. Gerrard, Babel and Torres are babies - full of energy and chomping at the bit to kick a ball. The team will be riding the crest of the wave given their last performance, regardless that it was Derby.

Crouch came on for England and showed just why he can't get a start. People have written about how tough it is to go to Pompey and get points - and granted, Utd got just the point too - but if they're known to be difficult opposition, we should have had our best team out there, especially given we have Birmingham at home next Saturday.

Plus Utd won having played earlier than us, though they onlty had to travel a few mile to Merseyside.

One thing that is now clear is that Yossi and Voronin cannot play together.

Alonso and Sissoko were poor again as usual. Both average players at best.

Gerrard looked like he couldn't be bothered after 5 miuns of being on - tired maybe but he didn't have long to last out.

We definitely missed Riise as Benayoon didn't hardly anything. Torres should be starting these games. He always looks like he could score at any moment. Felt a bit sorry for Crouch as he had no service at all.

Hopefully a lesson learnt for Rafa.

I was at the match on Saturday. The odd thing about the substitutions was that, when they had all three subs on the pitch Liverpool reverted to playing long-ball.

Enjoyed the game though - not often you can say that after a nil-nil draw.

Everyone loves to hate Rafa and his rotation policy, but fail to consider the fact that our squad is deep. I feel he put out a squad that was capable of coming away with something, and that is what they did.

You have to be happy with the fact that Liverpool didn't use their whole arsenal against a very tough, physical squad like Portsmouth and still managed to come away with something. I'm not bothered at all. A point from Pompey is better than nothing.

And don't for get the main FACT!

LIVERPOOL ARE THE ONLY TEAM NOT TO CONCEDED IN OPEN-PLAY, IN COMPETITIONS THIS SEASON!!!

The only goals conceded are from penalties, one of which shouldn't have been allowed. That, if anything, is the only concern. Liverpool have conceded three penalties so far this season, not good. Not enough to hold up a RED flag about, but something to look at.

Arsenal are top, but their back-line is bleeding goals, they can only keep coming from behind for so long... ManU are doing a Chelsea act and only JUST mustering up 1 nil wins. Chelsea look inconsistent. And Man City will end up where they deserve to be, a UEFA Cup spot at most.

Liverpool by no-means look like champions just yet. Come December we'll see more when all competitions kick-off and we see who Rafa puts out for Carling and FA Cup ties. Then the true depth of the squad will be tested and we'll see if our 2nd-in-line goal keeper can handle the heat of Cup-ties.
