F1 gets back to the track at Spa

comment on the article

Formula One's focus turns back to the track at Spa on Saturday after a week in which the McLaren-Ferrari 'spygate' case has dominated proceedings.

Team principal Ron Dennis is still smarting after McLaren's record fine and the loss of all their points in this season's constructors' championship.

Nothing will soothe his sense of grievance better than dominant performances from drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton this weekend.

They were fastest in Friday practice, but Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa topped the timesheets on Saturday ahead of qualifying.

How do you think the weekend will pan out? Can McLaren put their problems behind them, or will Ferrari rub salt in their wounds?

I think the BBC have got it wrong. Alonso is 3rd and Hamilton 4th not the other way around!

Raiikonen-Massa-Alonso-Hamilton, starting grid for Spa GP. Wonder how things are going to turn out. RD has decided, according to rumors, to drop any appeal within the 6 day delay.
I'm sure Mercedes must not be too happy to be mixed with this mess, not too good for the image. Pay up RD and let's try to move on they must be saying from MB headquarters.

I've just checked & you have nearly corrected yourselves, with only one mistake still showing on page, in the text you've got Alonso & Hamilton both in fourth place. winkeye

Ferrari's will tank Maclaren tomorrow. Unless they have some reliability issues.

"Wouldn't it be great for the sport if it was a Spyker 1 - 2 tomorrow"

tooo funny. I like.

The other teams know themselves out trying to be first. The Spykers sail on...

Not as crazy as it seems. I watched a race once where cars fell by the wayside and...Johnny Herbert won is a Stewart!

Soneo mentioned a "petulant" team. (Wonder who is meant)

Some people can see all the details, pretend theyx don't exist, and so manage to hang on to their bias. and still manage to hang on to their bias.

Quite, quite amazing.

That should, of course be..."knock themselves out".

Contrary to your starting grid, R.Kubica on BMW Sauber has been penalised 10 places for engine replacement this morning. I wish you would check before publishing info.

A crumb of poetic justice in this mockery of a championship with Ferrari on the front of the grid but it will never be more than that with the Mclaren drivers (particularly Alonso still on the grid.
But, in keeping with my committment to ignore the title race, I am wondering why Honda can get their cars in the top ten and look as if they are making progress only to fall back to what seems their comfort zone of around 14th. the very next race.
I am also curious to see whether Nicki Heidfeld now he has a good car can take that next step up and become the legitimate challenger many thought he should be.
I also am keen to see whether William's, who have been creeping up steadily this year will be back among the winners next year.
My guess is once we get this shambles of a season over, we could see a really close one next year, with BMW, Wiiliams and yes, even Honda (they simply have to get better) all competitive and let's not forget Renault. Roll on 2008
