Lindsay Davenport continues her comeback trail with a 3-set win (6-4 2-6 6-2) over top seeded Serb Jelena Jancovic and is still on course for a final showdown with no.2 seed Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia. She meets Aiko Nakamura of Japan in the semi final tomorrow.

Well done Lindsay!

I do wish people would stop comparing the men's and women's tours, however...remember Agassi? Much older than 31, held together by pian killing injections in his back (I think?) yet he still beat much younger men. Like Davenport, Agassi was class, with a champions temperament. Hanchukova is a good player, but Lindsay had absolutely nothing to lose and she's a winner. Hingis returned in similarly spectacular style, but never quite made it right to the top again. I doubt Lindsay would beat Henin or the Williams.

Good for Lindsay. Han-choke-ova flops again, proving she'll always remain in that 10-30 ranking, 4th round GS category. Hope la Dav goes on to contest more GSs next year.

Let's hope Lindsay stays injury free...At the end of the day she has nothing to prove, only to herself that she can still beat the best.
Lindsay has been a true champion and ambassador for the world of Tennis.....I hope she can balance the family life and a little tennis too for some years to come...as the womens field has been a poor non starter this past year...

I never doubted Lindsay's ability! She's a true champion. I wish her many more successes on her return. With such an impressive perfomance in Bali, she's still a force to be reckoned with in the WTA, and another Grand slam title may just be in the offing.

It's good to see lindsay back playing again. How well she will do in the future is left to be seen. Nice win ove daniela in the finals, but I do not think that she can beat Justine or Venus. Just my opinion

I think it's fantastic that Lindsay's won in her first tournament back, especially beating such highly ranked players on the way.One of the reasons would be that there was no pressure on her,no one expected her to do this well so soon after giving birth.Whereas the other players,no doubt mentally & physically drained this time of year after playing so much. Was the major abdominal surgery she mentions a caesarean section? My only concern, speaking as a Mother is that she can't be breastfeeding & if that is the case did she make the decision to formula feed in order to come back so soon.I realise she is in the twilight of her career & probably wants to earn as much as possible for her family's future before she retires but it's not fair on her baby son.I'm still glad she's back anyway. smiley

I don't think for Lindsay it's about financial gain....after amassing $21,000,000 plus in prize money and the same in endorsements. For Lindsay i'm sure it's about competing and having some goal to fulfil...
I thin she is breastfeeding, and am sure she will be following any advice her doctors are giving her...Let's see how well she does this week in Beijing, am sure the win y'day will give her some added confidence to face the other top seeds in the draw....i see she is now ranked 154 from 234 last week.

Her biggest strength in her game has always been her striking of the ball - she hits the ball cleaner than almost every other woman player in the game! That is just her incredible natural technique, which doesn't really fade if you take time out of the game.

It always allowed her to get away with weaker movement in comparison to other players and it is what has allowed her to make such a quick return to top form. I think every other player would struggle to make such a quick impact after time out and giving birth, but not surprised Davenport has made such a rapid come back. Good for her and good to see her back!

Erm, Serena (2004, 2007) and Henin (2005) made rather more startling impacts after being sidelined through injury or personal problems... certain players are simply at adifferent level of play to others, and i would put Lindsay among them.
