Abromovich bad taste

International England

If it's true, I for one think that Abromovich's motion of offering a huge bonus to the Russian players to beat England is in extreme bad taste and disrepectful. This is a guy who is the owner of an English club with several English players whom he has shown a clear lack of respect.

It is good to be pasionate about your country and show your support and obviously being Russian he isn't going to lose that but if I was Lampard, JT, J Cole, A. cole, Wright phillips etc I would be pretty appalled by his actions.

I very much doubt if this statement is true, but then again if it is, it certainly didn't work did it? and if it is true how much will he offer them when England play Russia in the return match? of course it all depends on whether Maclaren plays Lampard, who as far as I'm concerned is way past his best. Lets hope he plays the same team he did yesterday. Unless Rooney is fit by then. I think SW Phillips was outclassed last night, It wasn't so easy for him as in the Israel match.

So what if he did. He has a vast fortune and is proud of his country. Players respond to incentives though in this case Russia fell short. I applaud his patriotism.

There has been a lot of pressure from Putin on Abromovich over the last years questioning his vast expenditure on Chelsea but very little for Russian Football. The only difference between Abromovich and the other oligarchs in jail is whether you're on the good side of Putin. To appease him, Abromovich has been privately funding the Russian football federation's expenses, paying some of Guus Hiddink's wages, and built academy facilities for the russian FA. I wouldn't be surprised if he was "asked" to pay incentives for russian players to qualify for Euro2008.

More LIES by the Chelsea-hating, Liverpool-supporting British press. All designed to try to whip up hatred against Chelsea. The press know that Britain is choc full of dimwits who will swallow this utter garbage. Even when Chelsea deny it, you pea-brained idiots sstill carry on talking about it as if it's true. STUPID STUPID STUPID!

your comments are laughable coming from a chelsea fan. You could tell that you were a chelsea fan by the words your players 'shone like stars', which is an overstatement.
if it was malcolm glazer paying the USA more to beat england, I doubt you'd be praising him for his patriotic deeds.

I appreciate Your feelings mate. However You'll agree with me that you cant cage RA spending habits.its his money and he has every right to spend it as he desires. He doesnt have to support the English team simply because he owns an English club and then anyway, the boys still did the job inspite of any supposed 'incentive'.
If RA truly promised that to russian players,he was only trying to encourage his country's progress.I'm sure you wont begrudge him that.

You all miss the point: if RA shows that he prioritises Russia advancing at England's expense there is a risk of a conflict of interests since he employs several England stars. What if England thrash Russia and then Chelsea/England stars who were prominent in that thrashing get dropped from the team? What if their fearing such an outcome had influenced their perfomance? That was the real point.

The whole point, my friend, is that it isn't his money. But as neova2 points out, he now splashes it around as Putin tells him in the hope of avoiding prison.

This is pathetic. Yet more vilification from the press about anything to do with Chelsea. It all started with Essien when he arrived and hasn't stopped since. None of this can be proved. The rumor was most likely started by some pissed journo down the pub.

Why do you people still fall for this BS?

Eish, Chelsea haters!!!!

Keep hating them, keep painting them ugly, but unfortunately for you, the paint you use will never stick! You however will remain pained by the fact that they deliver the goods, and in the right way, for the right people, their Supporters!!!

Mypetfish and you Scourge of the RED teams!do not stress yourselves about some frustrated people who only wish their team was playing the Chelsea game right now!

All you Chelsea haters, keep spreading the lies, because they only seem to boost the morale of the BLUE STARS FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE

Damn I Love these guys!
