Here we go again!!!!

League One Leeds United

From the Sun(???) today.

"LEEDS have been kicked out of the FA after failing to pay debts.

The League One side broke rules aimed at making sure rival teams are paid any money owed.

FA regulations state clubs coming out of administration must repay in full any other clubs and players.

As a result Leeds will not be able to vote at the FA AGM and will lose all ticket privileges for the FA Cup.

However, they can carry on playing in all competitions and will regain their status when they abide by the rules.

Leeds were docked 15 points by the Football League for breaking rules on administration."

IF THIS IS TRUE, why does 'mein fuhrer" Bates seem hell bent on 'screwing around' with the footballing authorities, to the detriment of our club. We were all (I think) of the opinion that we were debt-free, surely even he realises that the footballing debts have to be paid in full (but I'm not sure if any timescale would have been put on paying these monies).
Even so, again IF it's true, any period of payment must have lapsed or the FA would not take any action.
Any comments guy's??

I don't see why some Leeds fans can't understand the concept that you cannot duck out of paying tax and VAT to HMRC. If you owe it you owe it, doesn't matter if you're a football club or tinpot corner shop. The same action would be taken by HMRC in any case, especially when several million is at stake.

What thatscaptaintou doesn't understand is that the HMRC did not do this to get the money Leeds owed them - they did it over a point of principle. They refused the option for Leeds to carry on paying them and forced Leeds into administration by calling for their full debt to be repaid - they could do the same with any number of clubs who currently owe the revenue vast sums of money - sending them to the wall.

So HMRC initiated the process which resulted in them not being paid most of their debt - and therefore deserve what they get.

What they should really do is NOT allow any footballing related enterprise to build up such masive debts. Apply the rule across the board without exception. It's no good allowing a failing club in freefall to build up a debt of £7.8M then complaining when you dont get paid - when you know full well current law says you get paid last.

Leeds bleeds...they've been cut so badly there's no healing them.

They've tried the Ken Bates tourniquet but it was second rate.

Time to put the club in a barrow and wheel it to the graveyard. erm

Why should Leeds get a break exactly? Because they're a big club? If they're breaking the rules, they should get the appropriate punishment. Most clubs operate at a far lower turnover than Leeds and most don't get into this mess.

However it looks like the on field matters are going to turn around the off field situation, which is of course a good thing in sport, it being decided where it ought to be.
