For Swansea
What have we let ourselves in for?

He will terrorise some defences, but does he like lager and pies too much?

Could be a great move. Hartson is a brilliant goalscorer but slightly past it to make a massive impression on first flight football. He's a natural goalscorer and Swansea is his hometown; I think he'd do really well and get a great reception and is definitly the fan's choice. Bring the boy home.

When Big John signed for us last season I thought it was a real coup for the club. He and Phillips were the dream team and we were dressing up similar quotes to yourselves now (e.g. 'he will terrorise defences in this league'). He scored twice on his debut and then somewhere along the line, admitedly through niggling injuries, the guy has completely lost all mobility... He simply can't run. His frame doesn't help (for the modern game, I'm sorry, but John Hartson is totally out of shape), but he also lost the willingness to fight for West Brom. The biggest concern about Hartson is his fitness, fuelled probably by his well publicised social antics. I remember whilst 'injured' at one point this season a local journalist asking our assistant Mark Venus 'when will John Hartson be available again?' The answer was 'I don't know, probably when the Cheltenham festival finishes'.... It says it all. On the upside, John Hartson loves your football club. If he is going to get himself back in shape and playing for anyone, it Swansea.. The funny thing is, I really wish him the best of luck. He is a likable character and makes you want him to do well... Sadly though, Big John had his last good days up at Celtic. A class player he has been... but with the emphasis firmly on 'has been'.

i wish everyone would forget about hartson, he's not signing, martinez clearly doesn't want him here and he won't do a job for us like some think so because he's far from being fit or in match condition.

few quotes from martinez here: http://www.swansea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=81967

He isn't, he hasn't played since January, he eats and drinks too much and is too heavy, something like 17stone.

plenty of WBA fans have said so as well.

we'd be doing them a huge favour by signing him, but we won't be.

If we can get him on a deal witha low basic and sensible bonus structure (effectively pay as you play/score) type deal then there is little risk involved, give him some time to train and get fit and perhaps he can do a job for us later in the season. Anything other than this and it's going to cost us more than it is worth.
