Some great news! Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards will be BBC Sport's new football columnist this season.

At 19, Micah is one of the Premier League's brightest young stars and his all-action performances in City's defence have thrust him into the international spotlight too.

A product of City's successful academy, he broke into their first-team in the 2005/06 season at right-back under previous City boss Stuart Pearce.

Since Sven-Goran Eriksson took charge at Eastlands in July, Richards has moved into the centre of defence for his club and has continued to shine.

He played in both positions for his country against Germany in August and looks certain to be part of the England set-up for a long time to come.

Micah is a lively character who will be telling us his latest news from on and off the pitch every week, giving a Premier League player's perspective on all the big issues and giving you an insight into his life away from football.

And we want you to be involved too, using 606 as a way to get in touch with Micah - choosing topics for his columns and asking questions for him to answer.

I will be acting as a go-between for Micah, reading everything you write and using the best questions and suggestions to him for his latest column. That way Micah will be writing about what his fans want to hear, although I can't promise that we will be able to answer every question!

With City at the start of a bright new era and England battling to qualify for Euro 2008 it promises to be an exciting few months for Micah - we hope you enjoy it too.

Please don't turn into the arrogant so and so, wannabe ganster that Rio is, keep your feet on the ground mate.

Has anyone else noticed how Rio is always the first to be there celebrating goals, even if it means a 100 yard sprint, there he is acting like a gangster/prat... God he annoys me!!!

Did you get any post match tv interview training after your first faux pas when your first goal, when you 'kind of' swore live?

you're a class act, by the way. keep football as your priority until after you retire (you'll have more time to party and mess about then), learn the lessons from other peoples mistakes and keep that enthusiasm you have

Micah,
When this country produces exciting, young talent like yourself the press go crazy and the hype machine goes into overdrive. Your performances so far have warranted every last bit of that hype, but it must put a lot of pressure on you to perform. How much is that the case, and does the pressure affect your football?
