It's quite simple mikesiva, you hope one of the players will have a bad day rather than hope both players have good days and the better one wins. You show your pro American bias by by referring to 'Serena' (first name) and 'Henin' or 'the Belgian'. 'Should we not like Americans under any circumstances?' you ask. What a very immature question. The real question is one of support in a sporting contest. I, being British and therefore European, support the European. You, bein a 51st stater, support the American. It is not anti American to support a European, it is patriotic.

Nevezien, get a life, there is life outside Europe.

In the case of the William sisters it valid to refer to them by first name for simplicity.

Sorry, but that is rubbish!

I have a friend who studied in belgium for years, and experienced worse racism than what his brother experienced in Florida. So, I don't see any reason why I should support Belgium over USA....

As for your ridiculous statement about being a 51st stater, that is so far off the mark!
laugh
If you'd taken the time to see my posts on the athletic board, you'd see that I was anything but American. But, as usual, you draw conclusions that are wide of the mark....

I call the younger Williams sister Serena because I don't want posters to think I'm referring to Venus. In case you hadn't noticed, they both have the same last name!

I'm sorry, but it's not immature to support an American player just because I happen to like them. It is however immature to blindly support every European player on the circuit just because they happen to come from a particular continent.

Unlike you, I can think for myself. For example, I don't like Roddick....

and why is that mikesiva?
because roddick and serena rely on the same weapons. (big serve and trying to overpower their opponent)

dont tell me you dislike roddick because he actually respects his opponent.

and for what kind of dumb reason you give for supporting usa over belgium. (we dont have a KKK here in belgium but that is probably only because with all the pollution over here we would have to often change our sheets)

racists u find everywhere and in every colour
(according to a survey children from all races (even belgians) suffer from time to time from racist abuse)

off course everybody can support for who he wants.

i even agree with mikesiva that he is not obliged to support for other europeans. if he likes serena better, then he should support her.

i was just saying that he must not dislike henin simple because a friend of his had bad experiences in belgium.

judge people on their personality and not their nationality. (otherwise he is a racist himself)

Im British and i support Serena and Venus. I must say though i despise Henin, not because of her nationality but because what she did to Serena in the FO-SF-03. And i despise the parisian crowd for their childish and disrespectful behaviour towards her on that day. Serena would of beat Henin that year and won that Grand Slam. She would of won 6 slams in a row.

Mikesiva, it is not immature to support an American, - of course not, I support my wife who is American. It was your question that was immature - "should we not like Americans under any circumstances"! If that is not an immature question vis-a-vis the current discussion I should like to hear your definition of one. I fear any further discussion with you is likely to prove intellectually unrewarding. Have you considered suing your school?

Mikesiva I want to apologise for my last post. This started as a joke that has gone too far. Not clever at all. Sorry.

Apology accepted, nevezien....

Of course, scaramanga's talking absolute rubbish, as usual!

I am a Caribbean man, and nobody can tell me that I MUST support a European, just because they have issues. Funny how quickly they are to label people racists. Take the plank out of your eye, before you criticse the dust in mine....

I support serena because she is a good player. Anybody who can win eight Slams is good. Roddick has only won one. And he's going backwards, not forwards....

To compare Serena with Roddick is idiotic!
