Breaking new (Am I the first?)

Hopefully this is some sort of symbolic gesture by McCLaren as he attempts to prove just how bad a state the pull-outs by Gerrard, Lampard et al have left him in.

I'd pick my nan for England as long as it keeps Defoe and Smith off the pitch.

Ive read a lot of harsh critisms of Emile, and Yes I would be the first to admit that he's never been prolific for club or country. However we are injury ravavaged and suspension bound, and to be honest although he hasnt been amongst the top scorers for a good while his last 2 years perfomances for Wigan have been good . He's not going to kid him self and say that he's gonna walk back i the side, but when Alan Smith is called up you never hear a murmur, and he plays everywhere EXECPT up front for his team. Personally I would have gone for Defoe, and had Emile as a Sub. Yes its two short strikers, but 2 with pace. And unless im mistaken we play Rooney and Owen as our 1st choice when they are fit and their not exactly giants in the box are they?

On another matter regarding Gerard and Lampard playing in the centre, It cant and wont work, geting a holding midc would mean dropping a striker or a defender. Lets face the facts, when Gerrard has played in the centre on his own with no lampard he has had a good game. Lampard is the one geting booed not him so bench lampard. I dont understand why 2 years after they had fantastic seasons we are still here debating the issue. You dont see Brazil or Argentina putting ALL the best players in, just the best TEAM. Maybe we should do the same..... just a thought!

For those who don't understand plain facts please read this as many times as it takes to sink in:

During the Heskey/Owen era of the past they played 30 times together for England, Owen scored 14. Owen's most prolific partnership for England.

Those out there who believe Heskey should be counted on his goalscoring alone should think again.

Those who believe he is rubbish probably think Adrian Heath was a better player than Gary Lineker.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

It's right - Heskey hasn't and won't top the goal scoring lists for club or country. BUT he can get into an attacking position, receive the ball, use his strength to hold, shield and turn with it - and pass it to someone like Owen to score.
Maybe that's why Owen is so keen to have him back in the squad. And maybe that's why we be a little more positive about his inclusion. Fingers crossed!

What has Garbriel Agtbonlahor, Dave Nugent, and Matt Derbyshire got to do to get into the England Squad?!

=======================

Nugent and Derbyshire need to be playing at club level and Agbonlahor needs to show his face if called up not lose his mobile phone e.g. U21 tournament this summer, at least Bentley had the balls to say he couldn't be bothered.
