David Beckham

comment on the article

I see that Beckham is injured yet again and will miss the next 2 qualifiers.

Well, I for one am very pleased at this as we will not have to endure his non-performances again.

He is too old and has lost whatever he may have had in the way of skills.

McLaren needs to drop him permanently so he can continue trying to 'make it' in Tinsel Town....ugh

Gerrad shows fantastic committment and always has done whether for club or country.Unlike beckham he does it merely for the football and not for personal "glory" motives
---------
so you can read peoples minds now? its impossible for you to know the motivations of a player - if this is the extent of your arguement its pretty weak

You talk about the culture under erikson, i agree he played some players when they werent fit/out of form but this goes for beckham, owen, rooney, gerrard among others, yeah he should have been more ready to drop players when not playing well but this is a critisim of erikson not beckham

End of the day whatever you think about beckham the people that matter rate him, fergerson is the premierships best manager and played him for 8 or 9 years winning everything, capello, erikson etc all put him on the field which means they must of thought he was doing a job. His record of achievements reads like a world class player and when you look at englands last few games most of the goals have come from beckham

fergie who got rid of him and has recently commented on what a pansy he is, capello who dropped him for poor performances, and only regretted it AFTER he did well otherwise he wouldn't have dropped him in the first place, and erikkson who admits himself that he was only england captain because he was the big celebrity/star in the team, and not because of influence.

you're right, they do know a lot more, certainly more than YOU.

you mean the record where he is the most dismissed england player of ALL TIME?? most definately world class, yep...

...moron.

WHy do people continuallly have a go at Eriksson? In case you idiots have forgotten he has the best win/loss record of any England manager anbd we only ever lost in tournaments on penalties. As for Beckham, it was only when he cam back we started scoring goals again and i think he actually set up 3 or 4. The person to blame is McClaren because he has no clue what team to field or how to motivate players.

Fergie palyed him for 8 or 9 seasons winning everything - do you think he would have done this if he didnt rate him,

Capelleo did drop him, and then recalled him and admitted he made a mistake, so capello agreed it was the wrong decision to drop him

Erikson played him for god knows how many games, would he have done this if he didnt rate him

Beckham got sent off twice for england, if you think this is a reason to say hes not world class i can show you a few who were that got sent off just as many times

i think our defence often showed quality at the big tournaments,it was going forward where we so often lacking genuine threat.Never more was this sorry fact more clear than in the european championships of 2004 when we were entirely reliant on a 19 year old kid playing his 1st tournament to see us through to glory.

-------
and he failed, along with every other england player, not his fault, not beckhams fault, not any 1 persons fault, it was a collective effort and therefore all share in the success and failure

thats quite unbelievable finn,im surprised from you.He didnt "fail",he got injured in the qurter-final v portugal and his tournament and englands was effectively done,we had no creativity or inspiration whatsoever without him.

Like i said its not his fault, just pointing out how stupid it is to blame one person for england getting knocked out
