Agents regulations

comment on the article

The Football Association is to announce new regulations preventing agents from acting for more than one party.

The Football Agents Regulations come into effect on Saturday and include guidelines on dual representation, nepotism and overseas agents.

But has it gone far enough? What rules would you like to see the FA bring in?

Look at what has just happened with Manuel Fernandes and Everton, because our rules are so strict we lost out! There is no point in the english FA making new rules when no other country follows suit!

The FA are a joke. If they were truly opposed to third party ownership would Tevez be playing for United? It's one rule for United and another for the rest of the league. It's absolutely pathetic.

Cuju_Master - Muppet. Mascherano and Liverpool. Tevez and United. Same situation. So why do you only have a pop at United?

As a united fan i would rather not have Tevez cos of the fact that next season his third party "owners" might decide they want him to play for another club due to the financial reward. I am sick of third party agreements but i dont think FIFA will do anything to stop because i bet they profit from it themselves. Agents have way to much power in the game.

It seems to me that the FA is opposed to 3rd party ownership because it allows smaller clubs to sign players they could never have afforded in the past. I believe this to be true because the Tevez saga, which was met with opposition from West Ham, was sorted out quicker than the Fernandes deal which met no opposition and eventually fell through as a result of the time frame. If they are to introduce measures against 3rd party ownership they should be retrospective to ensure a level playing field and salvage what little credibility the FA have left.

Pardon me eccles45. I chose United because it's fresh in memory. The Liverpool deal is the same, you're right about that. But I can assure that I am not one Jim Henson's humerous creations (although I am a fan of Kermit)

The Premiership is screwed anywaylaugh

La Liga rules! theres nothing wrong with 3rd party ownership coz it gives smaller (Uefa cup) budget teams to buy class players just like back in the days when Maradona played in italy for a uefa cup team!smiley

There was some agent on 5Live this morning expressing his objection to anti-nepotism rules and using Venus Williams as an example of how a family member can be an agent without any problems. Of course what the numpty failed to realise is that tennis players aren't subject to multi-million pound transfers of registration/ownership. Sadly neither did Nicky Campbell pick him up on that.
