Earlier today Lee Hughs was officially announced a oldham player i think this is fantastic and am very pleased that hughes is back in football as he is a class striker and i also think he is genuinely sorry. Do people agree or disagree? Please comment

I suggest rmp7926 and badbaz83 both look up what 'murder' is as neither of you know.

Re Hughsie, he's genuine when he says he's sorry. But, if he hadn't been caught...if he hadn't done time...if he hadn't thrown away a good career....how genuinely sorry would he have been then? We'll never know, but what he did before he got behind the wheel and what he did after the crash was totally unacceptable and he deserves nothing but contempt.

Sorry rmp7926, it's not always that simple. "Murder" is setting out with the premeditated intention of killing someone. Killing someone on the spur of the moment is typically classed as "manslaughter" and Hughes was jailed for "causing death by dangerous driving."

I'm not trying to excuse him, just clarifying what the law states.

Wrong again badbaz. Killing someone on the spur of the moment deliberately is murder.

Depends on the circumstances. Quite frankly, I'm sick of arguing about it.

My point is I wouldn't class what Hughes did as murder.

we all know the lad done wrong but at the end of the day i think he deserves a second chance. he's a class footballer and if he didnt kill anyone just wonder where would he be?

If he didn't kill anyone and then run off, he'd have been better off. He had two chances already...getting behind the wheel, killing someone and running off is 3 chances....

He's a coward, and scum, he has showed no remorse. The latest crap is just crocodile tears.
If nhe had died I would say that was poetic justice.

Wheres the shame?? you have killed someone, you do your time and then you come out to a nice cushy job doing what you love and earning a bomb!! not thinking of the family you have wrecked, who are going to see your ugly mug on the box in the papers smiling looking happy celerbrating? Where is the justice in that? I dont think he should have been allowed to go back into top flight footie, just seems awful that someone can do these things and then go back to it like nothing happened, when the man who was killed cant do this!! Remorse my arse the Oldham Management would have told him that he had to say all that at the press conference to cover them buying him, i personally hope he gets alot of stick brought shame to the Baggies, after they originally gave him the chance. :0(
