The Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships are coming to the UK for the first time, from 3-9 September, and will be held in Fort William, Scotland.

More than 700 of the world’s top riders from more than 50 nations – riding for country, rather than trade teams – will battle it out across the four mountain bike disciplines of cross-country, trials, 4-cross and downhill.

It is the high point of the 2007 season, with over 40,000 mountain bike fans and outdoor fans expected to trek to the idyllic Highlands for six days of spectacular action.

Team GB are strong medal contenders, with Oli Beckingsale and Simon Richardson in cross-country and Steve Peat, Tracy Moseley, Rachel Atherton and Gee Atherton in the downhill all tipped for success.

The BBC’s online coverage will feature race reports focussing on the British riders, audio content (where available) from 5Live and BBC Radio Scotland, streamed BBC2 coverage on the final day and audience photos and video on the BBC’s cycling community on isporty.com.

We’re also hoping to secure a diary, here on 606, from one of the British riders – watch out for further details.

And if you’re going to be at Fort William, we’d love to hear from you to get your take on the action – the competition, the weather, the scenery, the black flies...

So, if you'd like to write your experience of any of the action and have it promoted on the BBC Cycling page, let us know by adding a comment below.

Hope to hear from you!

Must say I'm tempted although its a bit too far away for me, I never had the bike handling skills for Mountain Biking and stuck to the roads, but I have muchos respect for the guys that do it, always exciting to watch aswell. Very happy to see the Beeb doing some coverage.

What will the beeb be showing on TV as for me its to far a trip to make if I'm not racing. (not that I'm even good enough to race the worlds lol.)

The TV coverage is 14:00-16:00 on the Sunday.

It'll largely be a highlights show with punditry from Gary Foorde (Cross-Country) and Nigel Page (Downhill), but I'd imagine they'll feature live coverage of the men's downhill and trials finals.

Would love to be there. Visited the course (and rode some of it) a fortnight ago. Unfortunately I'm a Primary Teacher, and some bright spark decided it would be good for us to go back to work on the 5th. I will be watching though, so I'm glad it looks like there will be decent coverage.

Sorry, you can only contribute to 606 during opening hours. These are 0900-2300 UK time, seven days a week, but may vary to accommodate sporting events and UK public holidays.
