I have read an article that states the new indian rebel league has signed 50 players - enough for about 4 teams so far....

Could somebody please kindly post the name of the 50 players if you know, as i am interested to see which players have 'jumped ship' ..or come out of retirement...

Also, does anybody know how many teams will be playing? And are they going to be named after the indian states they play in? or will there have some other names ....... like the pommy penguins or something??

Cheers in advance

I'd heard that Madras Heat was a name for one team. I think the 50 includes young indian league players who i've never heard of, plus lara, inzi, razzaq, yousuf.

FYI..

there is a local ranji-league team from Hyderabad. Seven members of the team had quit and joined ICL. All of them are young, and talented. Here is the list:

1. Kaushik Reddy
2. Ambati Rayudu
3. Vinay Kumar
4. Ibrahim Khalil
5. Alfred Abslom
6. Indrasekhar Reddy
7. Shashank Nag

Interestingly, after their official joining of ICL in Mumbai earlier this week, they returned back to the home-town Hyderabad and attended a press conference. Quite understandably, they all expressed their dissatisfaction over the way the local board is administered: full of politics - null for talent.

BTW, I heard Chris Harris is going to join the league too. Chris Cairns and Nathan Astle on their way I guess.

Marvan Atapattu from Sri Lanka is a sure shot.

from Oz, I guess Dean Jones is a big name, not sure if there's any change of equation.

that is more than 50% of a team.

So is the case with Bengal team. I heard a majority of the team joined ICL.

Imran Farhat from Pakistan too!

Dinesh Mongia and RS Sodhi are two young local players. They got few chances to play for India in international arena, but couldn't make a mark.

It would be very interesting and worthy to see domestic cricket in India. With the young players signing up with ICL, cricket will take a new dimension in India.
